Lenovo Y450 versus HP Pavillion...

I own and use HP, Lenovo and many other brands. For business (and study) purposes I always lean toward the Lenovo models. If you pack the GT240M in one of the Y450 configuration, the Lenovo is a better choice, over the HP. cheers ...

So are you leaning towards Lenovo as in the company in general or did you get a chance to spec out the 2 units?

screen flicker with W7 x64 -...
Published (2009-12-25 04:14:00)
problem fixed, i found the solution on youtube of all places! apparently there is a bug with the NVIDIA 8600M GT, whereby flickering will occur with all relatively new drivers, regardless of OS. This is caused by NVIDIA Powermizer changing the GPU clock speed. The workaround is to install Nv GPU Pro and disable Powermizer. This results in more power being used, but at least it stops the flickering. Merry Christmas guys!

You can find that information on the bottom of the computer, under the model number. It will say the required voltage, wattage, and amperage.

Since you have a DeLL I8kfanGUI 3.0 is the fan control that works well for you, link . I would consider application of thermal paste. I would seriously consider IC Diamond Thermal Compound it seems to be considered better than AS5 by most. Or do a serious Google search for the best. I have forgotten what that is at this time. Now I don't know your system and if for example it uses thermal pads ...
