Congrats on your new computer, smilepak! I suppose I'll have to upgrade at some point as well, but for the time being I'll continue to be a Z71V holdout.

Published (2010-03-11 07:03:00)
The Fault : The laptop powers down instantly , without saving settings or hibernating . This first occurs after a period of extended use , but gets progressively worse . Eventually the laptop will not boot at all . It tries to boot but is cut off . The blue power LED illuminates for a few seconds , then dies without the drive even spinning up . The Reason ? : Everbody thinks the fault is in the VGA card . Some have had the card replaced and...

Tnx Qhn! Regarding the Vantage scores, I have to agree with your analysis, Djembe. Notebookcheck is about right with the numbers. Who knows what is the screenshot on the chinese site related to. I am kind of disappointed regarding 335m`s performance if NBcheck is actually accurate since my old N81 (my 3D Mark 06 details HERE ) is able to hit 7800 with slight o'cing . I shall not give up on ASUS yet though. Just spotted N61 with core i7...

looks like the main vote of for the N61JQ (amazon for $999) I am still ALMOST CERTAIN about it. Something tells me to consider a macbook pro for two bills more (which is not much, when considering such a long term puchase) sure, I'd have to downgrade screen size from 16" down a few inches, but it's a freggin macbook, SOLID keyboard, feels nice, etc, etc not partial to either OS. just the more efficient one of course.

yeah, you might be right.. as fan speed seems to be the same. Maybe with the last cleaning action I loosened too much dust and it then went to the last cooler before exit. Sometimes only a thin layer makes a block. I should try that first before buying a new used fan. It´s just if it wasn´t that I´ll have to disassemble and reassemble again.

Is there a particular sequence drivers should be loaded in ? If anyone's interested I'll post details of what I did to repair the machine , and what I noticed while doing so . Hey guys. I recently have heat issues with my 7 year old pimped m6700n (2.0 GHz Dothan, 2GB RAM, 320GB HD, 2200BG). Considering the specs the installed 2.0 Dothan is even slightly cooler (21W heat loss) on max. clock than my former 1.4 Banias (22W). Now - when the machine runs on full processor power, the fan starts running at full speed from approx. 55 deg. celsius on. Nevertheless the...

Hi to all, It really came as a big shock to me today when I called my retailer who has been very good to me and my companies for years started my business in 1981 that my pre-ordered Asus G73JH-A1 is not in. I had their senior buyer or so I was told call direct only to find out there are none, not a one available with the new target date for release as of today being March 31st 2010. I ...

I currently have an Eee 1000HA or something like that, Atom with ~8.5 hours battery, 10" screen, XP, basically an awesome portable unit. I also have a Dell m6400 17" powerhouse monster that is nearly never used w/o being plugged in. I take the Eee to school and it's really nice to not have to plug in all the time for note taking. The keyboard is small. Annoying, but not horrible. I can ...

I have an Asus A6000 and I'm using a Logitech cordless keyboard with no problems. However when I disconnect the cordless k/board and try to use the laptop k/board some of the keys are printing numbers or symbols instead of the letters.
