Well, what do you know. I just played with Onenote 2007 a bit and it does do the sort of outline stuff I want. The table suport seems to work just fine too. Guess I may have to start using it! Thanks folks! Gary

Fixed the problem last night with the help of HP tech support. The girl remotely connected and turned of schedulemanager (think that's what it was called) in the task manager. Now when it boots into windows, none of the things that are set to run on startup (like steam and Yahoo messenger) startup automatically. Oh well. Least it's running okay. Better back everything up in case it poops out for any reason.

I swear there are dozens of threads like this. But nevertheless...
I use Opera for most of my internet usage , because it is very fast, has many features that I find essential built-in with no need for addons that slow down a browser, is secure, and has the interface that takes up the least screen real estate while still maintaining high usability and features.
I use Chrome for Gmail ...

I've noticed with the Synaptics touchpad/mouse, one function often directly relates to some of the others -- so that you have to carefully select ALL of the functions to get the touchpad and mouse to work exactly as you want them to. Here's what I have for my settings, and I can scroll easily, (up and down and side-to-side) without clicking on my window:

I'm a OneNote believer. It's great.
I love the ability to draw in my notes in a pinch, the integrated calculator (try entering 2+2= for example) and the search.
If you have a tablet PC, it becomes even more compelling, but even without it, it's a great tool

The ALPS touchpad driver on my Vaio has this function built in. My understanding is that all the Alps drivers do.

Have you tried booting into safe mode (Press F8 rapidly during boot) and
seeing if that prevents the disk check from running? If so, disable the

Are you running in bridged mode for networking with VM? NAT?
