You might want to give ThrottleStop a try. It has been written to address the throttling problem. John

I'm assuming you already did the necessary dust removal and such? If so there's definetly something wrong. I'm on the latest BIOS but temps are nowhere near yours and the fan hardly runs during light usage.

Dell D610 Upgrade?

I wouldn't bother with it, a nice D620 or D630 can be bought for less than $500. As for D620 motherboard, no. Completely different size and port layout.

I think there is something wrong with it essami, the fan is obviously going 24/7 if those are idle temp's, but it's still not keeping it cool. Up to you whether you want to have a look yourself, try some new TIM, work out if the GPU heatsink is making full contact [our m4400 user ofelas had this problem] or get Dell to do something. I don't like any late bios's because they are too hot when idling to be comfortable on my...

Tinkerdude posted an amazingly thorough review of the problems and showed exactly where the problems are occurring over at the dell forum. Unfortunately it was censored by the mods (I'm guessing because he included a reference ID).

Windows 7 x64 on the M6400
I have my M6400/fx3700m running nicely under windows 7 for a while now - with just a few minor nits left as described below. Note that this all refers to the 64bit version (who whould choose anything else on the m6400! ).

A bright green screen? Is this after the OS starts up or even before that? If the OS has started up to some extent at least, it's probably a driver problem. Try booting into safe mode and downloading the latest Dell drivers.
If that doesn't help, you probably have a broken graphics card. Is this the Nvidia or Intel by the way?

Has anyone gotten the CF card reader on the X1 able to read/write faster than 1mb/sec? I'm using Vista Ultimate on this machine and have tried just about every driver I could find for the Ricoh reader chipset but no CF card of three I tried are able to read/write faster than 1mb/sec and also slow down the system greatly when accessing it. It seems like DMA is not enabled for the CF reader. The SD...

The antennas are installed correctly. Check in the BIOS, is WLAN turned on and the switch set to turn WiFi on/off.
Using non-Dell OEM cards is a recipe for headaches. Either the WiFi LED will blink during activity (correctable through registry edit) or the card will perform unreliably. Dell OEM cards use colored triangles instead of numbers for the antennas.

I checked about the broken/ replacement thing. The one I'm getting IS the working replacement :-) Should be getting a call back from Dell today about title & warantee transfer (crossing my fingers).

There was a time when the webcam driver would prevent sleep / hibernation, but I'm short of suggestions as to what may stop the computer waking up. Are you getting a blank display or a display that shows no response to user input?
