Studio 17 Randomly Going To Sleep
Published (2009-11-29 20:49:00)
You need to get into Windows 7 power options in the control panel.Windows 7 sees your computer as a notebook and sets its own power and sleep mode setting. Adjust all those to your liking and you should be fine.

The Belkin 15.6 is very lose fitting, even with the nine cell. It appears to be doing the job fine though.

Just pop off the Studio's back, clean the dust off the fan and perhaps the
air intake slits, and you're done.

If those artifacts show up on an external display... then yeah, it's almost certainly a GPU problem. You can try reseating the GPU and seeing if that helps, but I bet it needs to be replaced. I think you can get like a cheaper X1600 or something for the E1705, but it's still $100+ on eBay, etc.
You could try baking your GPU, but might render the GPU totally unusable (as it's still limping ...

Well, I have a system just like yours.
To be honest with you, you can't play jack with your system unless you install I8kfanGUI. make sure you enable the driver signature enforcement before you install it.
after you finished installing it choose the option " Force fans to high speed, also bare in mind to enable the GPU temperature reader on the option menu.
I played left for dead at ULTRA ...

In reality, there will be no perceptible difference in performance between the T6600 and P7450 processors. Both the RAM and wireless card can be easily upgraded in the future. So I wouldn't let either of those determine my choice.
The Studio 15 has a few features not found on the Inspiron 15 - 1-eSATA/USB port, HDMI port, Firewire port (IEEE 1394) and a significantly better sound ...

I think Dell's being dumb here and trying to tell you that they offer an RGB LED display on whatever Studio you're looking at. And you can find a ton of info on RGB LEDs these days.

Lol. Yeah i'm interested in this too.
Most 14-inch notebooks have an optical drive though (Acer Timeline 4810t). Even a standard drive would fit here as it isn't really thin per say. You would definitely be able to get a slot-loading one in this chassis. It's thicker then the Macbook it's targeting. But I don't mind the omission at this price. I guess it's the main thing differentiating it ...

Unless you get a dud (in which case, it'll probably fail soon enough to be
fixed under warranty), there's no reason the machine shouldn't last several
years or more. You can always buy an extended warranty if you're worried
about it...

The BIOS most likely does not accept 8GB in that laptop since it is a
budget laptop. The newer laptops do support 8GB or larger.
