Had this problem recently. I deleted the cities folder and the qf file, uninstalled Nokia Maps and then reinstalled it and it worked after that. Not sure if it was the deletion of the cities folder and the qf file that did the trick or the uninstall because I did both and it worked. You could try one
forst and if it doesn't work, try both together.

I forgot to say that after hit the OK on "no updates" message,
Ovi Maps asks the same question again "New device identified. Transfer license to this device?"

Do you see it in your Application Manager? If not you could try reinstalling.

Try as a last resort . Connect to charger . Leave phone with maps on in a position where it will pick up satellites ( window ledge etc) turn on AGPS for the initial lock . Leave four hours or more . That fails i would backup data wipe memory card and do a hard reset wipping the phones software and
starting from scratch . I have few problems GPS wise with my 5800 using Nokia Maps ...

You may need to update your licences once for the maps program to recognize that it has a free lifetime license. Options -> Shops & licenses -> My Licenses -> Update .
