My DS has the infamous hinge crack, but it's super shallow and I've managed to prevent further damage by using super glue. It's been over a year since and the crack hasn't gotten any bigger. The R button also no longer works, which makes FFIV all but unplayable for me right now. It's a bummer, but since the system still works I see no point in replacing it.

i prefer the SP, mostly because i like playing pokemon and metroid, and the DS metroid games never really appealed to me. so yes, the SP is more convenient

Yeah, the DS also has hinge issues. The hinge snapped on one side of mine
making it very loose. Same with my sister's.

I also have the Japanese version of HG, though I'm not that far yet. I only have four badges so far. I'm leveling up to beat the ice gym.

I have the blue original one. I used to have the silver one, which I got in December 2004, but it broke and I got the blue one in February 2006.
