Mine would say: Harvey : Today I was teaching my human 'Natural Humanship' she tries to pick up my back foot so i instantly tried to kick her, now I wasn't going to get her but the intent is there and she's a pretty smart cookie and is learning well so haven't had the need to go to 'stage 3' and boot her one proper. Otherwise, well things are ok have taught her to sit a spook and to give me my dinner so lifes...

agree with the others, pay the owner installments for six weeks plus his livery of £10.00 and then once it is paid he is yours. it is unrealistic of your dad to expect to find a horse to suit every member of the family.....why not get great aunt ethel out of the nursing home to ride him as well. seriously if you want him to be YOUR horse negotiate and do it solo then no one else can stick their oar in.

What is a novice?
Published (2009-11-26 15:07:00)
I think you probably are tbh. I would much rather have someone who knew next to nothing and admitted it than somebody who thought they knew it all Whats been said is true, RS is a catch 22 situation and to move on you need to get away from the RS and be hands on, its the only way really to fill in the missing bits. I have been dealing with horses for years, and am first to admit I am STILL learning, its all a total learning curve, you just...

Bad day and Horses calling you!!
Published (2009-11-26 17:00:00)
Naw, you won't ruin 'em! Sounds like they just like calling to you! hehehehe. Our pair give me the "hoo hoo hoo" routine if I disappear into the tack room for a few minutes - its like they think I've gone or something? And then when I reappear they do it - perhaps they think they're going to get treats.......(they don't! They have far too many!!!)

I would keep him as long as he was happy & I was able to if he were my horse. Surely the fact that he is no longer 'useful' to you doesn't mean he needs to die? If he was to be in constant pain with no quality of life then PTS would obviously be the best thing for him but as long as he's happy then I don't see why you shouldn't keep him.

Not laughing, just smiling. It's good that you feel you can post pics of Funky now, I have trouble looking at ones of my late show horse, never mind share! As for epic fails, I'll have to hunt out one in particular. I'm showing in-hand at national level wearing a borrowed pair of trousers and had no idea they didn't even reach my ankles. What a sight I must have been!

Argh! that would drive me crazy if all of my stuff that you have stated went missing, or was being used! It doesn't matter if you're on a really basic, small yard or a top professional yard, NO ONE has the right to use or just take anybody elses stuff, especially without even asking I'm sorry but this is something that really gets my back up! If it was a best friend of mine that borrowed a ...

Me too, it's awful at the moment, we've been really lucky living where we are, was watching the forecast last night and my OH's comment was we're ok, doesn't matter about the West/Scotland, he was most surprised when I rounded on him lecturing about how selfish he was and that I know lot's of people who have been very badly affected. So he asked me who and I said lots of people on the Forums I ...

Unless it is absolutely p**ing it down with rain mine get turned out every day.
I keep them at home.
When the paddocks are too wet and slippery I just turn them out in my smaller sand school. At least they then get fresh air and turnout and stretch their legs. I hate seeing horses stuck in all day.
But I know I am lucky to have them at home where I can do as I please.
I ...

in terms of riding; i think of a novice as someone who has not mastered the basics, and who also doesnt know things like how to react in an emergency; ie rearing, trying to tank off, how to cope with a horse that is getting agitated etc.
