I agree. On a level surface, it shouldn't make a difference. On a steep incline, it might be best to engage the parking brake first, but it shouldn't harm the car not to.

Putting an automatic gearbox into 'P' mode I believe engages a locking mechanism (possibly a rod of some sort) in the gearbox. You will find that you can't move the car when 'P' is engaged, even if the e-brake is not engaged. Having said that, there is a school of thought (to which I personally subscribe), that it is not wise to leave the car with 'P' engaged, *without* engaging the e-brake as this could...

I just bought one on ebay from a UK seller. There is one place in the US that is selling it for $55.00. I actually paid thirty something including shipping from the UK ebay seller. I received it in about a week.

I previously had the e86 Z4M Coupe for 2 years now have gone to the new e89 Z4 3.5. Immediate differences (after 500km in the e89). - interior is much better built and more luxurious - clutch is lighter - torque is more on the low end relative to the ///M 3.2 engine - new I-Drive is 1000x better than the previous gen - handling seems pretty similar, can definitely use a LSD if there ...

I am on the fence as far as having the clearbra installed. I had it on my '06 Monaco Blue and they did an excellent job. There weren't any bubbles and the dirt didn't show where the 3m film ended on the paint because the car was so dark. My new Z4 is Orion silver. I haven't picked it up yet and I can't decide if I should go with it. I don't want stone chips and after 40 months of ...

I would engage the e-brake then press P so at no stage is the gearbox holding the car. I don't know what park does mechanically in this specific gearbox and I imagine it's designed so that doing it the other way can do no harm but the e-brake's there to stop the car moving and nothing else so let it do its job. Reconsidering, if pressing P first could be harmful they could have easily made it ...
