Bums be embarrassing ... except to Drs, Practice Nurses, Health Visitors ........ Make that appt, take a list of your symptoms and hand to your Dr. who will be able to reassure you, make any necessary examiantion and referrals if he/she thinks you need them. Our bowels can tell a LOT about our general health. I used to check my spaniel's motions every day as she had a potty routine and that routine told me about her overall health. Let...

GP's obligations?
Published (2009-11-27 01:36:00)
Thanks for that Suzy! Ta. Since posting my query up, I've checked with the GMC, RCGP and the BMA and they all state guidelines that all doctors are obliged to inform patients of what's involved in examinations and they are also obliged to let patients know of side effects, especially unpleasant ones that will or may cause long term problems after treatment. So in short, they are failing in their duty(ies), if they don't and can...

GP's obligations?

Oh, that's really interesting… good to know these things so you can bring them into a conversation if they don't happen. But does it help? For a couple of years I had a doctor who was so criminally incompetent – she would never ever examine or even touch you, for instance, she "diagnosed" you from the other side of her desk – I did go through the proper procedure of reporting her and there was an exchange...

Thanks for your response, I am still unsure what it is. Touch wood its been good today and i have had relatively no chest pain however there is still time and it often happens when I'm lying down trying to get sleep for example. I do care about my health but i experience so many health problems and i don't want my parents knowing. Also not only that but id probably be having a good day it always happens when i pluck up the...

Anal Lump?
Published (2009-11-25 19:49:00)
Sounds like a haemoroid to me. My partner had one a year or two ago and just got told to leave it be and to change his diet slightly. It did clear up by itself. As for the diet side, i think he had to cut out certain fibres, such as wheat. TC

Maybe your GP isn't being specific enough in reassuring you that the tests so far have been within normal limits. Mouth ulcers are a sign that someone is 'run down'. Now: not many GPs understand restless legs which can affect ANY age group - mine are due to a lack of potassium so I eat lots of bananas - the intense need to move begins the moment I get into bed each night and ...

Yep. There are lots of embarrassing types of conditions 'down there', a common cause of bleeding is 'fissure' where the tender skin splits - because the area is a breeding place for germs fissures can become very sore and may necessitate surgery. It is common for Consultants to see this type of 'damage'. Make sure that you and your partner are 'clean' before sex, a condom should be used...

If someone feels put upon in the work place it can build up resentment. Do you have a senior person who can help sort through and prioritise your work space? Don't be afraid to ask for help, initially it can be embarrassing but sneionr managers need to know if a person isn't coping. A Union Rep can certainly help. They can take an objective look at your work schedule and give advice, ...

Welcome! Bowels are a worry sometimes and not something the English talk about <rolls eyes>. Bowels can tell a lot about how healthy a person is so any changes that are worrying should be discussed with your Dr or Practice Nurse. If you are embarrassed then make a list of your symptoms to hand to your Dr so that he/she can work through the list and discuss with you the options. It will...

As far as I can make out, doctors aren't obliged to tell you anything. Perhaps I've been unlucky, but I've never met one who will offer you information unless you ask quite specific questions. It's one of the (many) things that irritate me about doctors generally. But I don't really understand your question. If you want to know what a prostate examination involves, why don't you just ask?...
