I find this useful on my network because I take my domain controller down occasionally, but I don't want my client machines to lose Internet. So in my scope options in DHCP I have an external DNS added as a secondary that my clients can still get to. Yes, and you can...

DHCP is just as useful on a home network. Most people want to be able to hook up any random machine and not have to worry about having to manually configure the network. Same with small businesses.

This has happened on every setup yet. I'm frustrated and tired. Can somebody help me figure out what this means and how to fix it? Connect using Remote Desktop Connection or remoteapp. When waking virtual machine, doesn't work. Event log says this, "RD Connection Broker received connection request for user JACEI\tyler. Hints in the RDP file (TSV URL) = tsv://vmresource.2. Initial Application = Call came from...

Hi guys, I am having a problem with my Windows 20008 DCs. I have a task scheduled which backups the server every night at a network staging area. But from last Wednesday, Task Scheduler is failing and giving following error messages: Last Run Result message: CODE Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. congrats on messing up iis. if you want to configure it this way, you will want to know a lot about how iis operates and functions as well as what each microsoft package does to iis. make it easy on yourself and either make a vmware server or find another server to put crm on. ___________________ мне...

Most important benefit: if you're running a domain, then running DHCP from your server means it can be integrated in to Active Directory. Adds security and flexibility. There is definitely more flexibility in setting up options in DHCP from your server, too. For instance, you can set your scope options to provide additional DNS servers in case your main one goes down. I find this useful on my network because I take my domain controller...

Xbox 360 Media Server
Published (2009-11-14 07:00:00)
Contrary to what you may have read, Windows Media Player is offered as an OPTIONAL feature in Server 2k8. Since it's not installed by default, go to Server Manager -> Features -> Desktop Experience to turn it on. See also: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2576/window...ce_vista_theme/ edit: Obviously stop following the results in ^ after the reboot.

Dhcp is only really usefull in big networks with say 50 or more pc's. It helps if you dont want to have to remember ip's all the time.

I dont have much experiance with windows 2008 server, only alot on 2003 but Windows Media Services doesnt sound like the answer. You need the newest windows media player on the operating system because that can stream to xbox 360.

There's no inherent advantage, other than that it's more configurable. It's just a different way to do it. Not every Windows feature is intended to be used by everyone.

Of course you can transfer things. The number it's reporting is just that, a number. Give it a try. If this is not working (disk reports full), you've set up the new drive incorrectly and it's not actually part of the pool.
