PSU Help

They aren't connected.....otherwise all PSU reviews would be looking at BIOS voltages...but they don't. Again, what your Vcore is in your BIOS has nothing to do with your PSU.... If I change my PSU, my CPU Vcore doesn't go up or down.

Mobo identification

Thanks Colin CPU-Z comes up with Foxconn 946 7MA series. Foxcomm website comes up with 6 versions . ItÂ’s no biggy not knowing the exact version, but CPU-Z states chipset as 946PL/GZ, southbridge as 82801GB (ICH7/R) and LPCIO as IT8718, if that helps someone to ID which of those 6 it is.

+1 on you getting a new PSU. and if you want to buy the GPU now, you should check what Wattage does the PSU have and does it have a spare 6 or 8 pin connector.

For some reason, my order isn't showing up in Recent Order History and nor did I get a confirmation even though the purchase was successful. How long do you usually have to wait for a confirmation, its been 30 minutes already..! This post has been edited by...

nVidia vs ATI
Published (2009-11-26 02:25:00)
Used to use Nvidia, but the drivers were hopeless / kept crashing. So, I changed to ATI for the 3 PC's here. This card isnt too bad (it was pretty cheap, and its got VGA / HDMi and DVI on it). It lets me connect via DVI and I use the HDMI connection on the monitor for the Xbox. Not really worried about games, dont have any. I'll use the Xbox instead

Quote - (DigitalManifestations @ Nov 22 2009, 19:31) Ahh I understand why you'd want to avoid the Viewsonic then. I may get it for myself as I need something with a nice, vibrant display but also within a nice, low budget. I'd recommend the P2350 personally. Higher contrast ratio, better response time (although the difference between 2 and 5ms isn't great, if noticeable). Unless I'm missing other important...

Just use DBAN . Just be aware that by default DBAN will nuke EVERY drive connected to the PC. So disconnect anything you don't want wiped.

For a DVD drive I would suggest a Samsung SH-S223B/BEBE which is cheap and fast.

First post =) Here's my main headquarters you could call it lol. I've got more computers in the closet, mainly servers and all. I'll get rid of the old keyboard/mouse as soon as I get another ethernet cable to go to the linux computer. http://bryceeason.net/pics/100_0688.JPG http://bryceeason.net/pics/100_0689.JPG http://bryceeason.net/pics/100_0690.JPG http://bryceeason.net/pics/...

The link for your girlfriend's laptop model is broken... but, going by history, I'm going to have to say no. There were a few machines that do allow this, specifically some older models of Dell's XPS notebook line and I believe a few Alienware machines allowed this as well via what's known as a MXM video card, but most common notebooks just have the video processor soldered to the ...

I have an HP laptop and mine does that too. It also fluctuates from being slightly loud to quiet. Hasn't done any harm, so I just ignore it.

I approve, nice build. Are you sure you don't want to get a new video card though? Case is a bit ugly too.

Personally, I'd pick up an Antec TruePower New either 650W or 750W. I'd do that ONLY if you had a GPU upgrade (GTX 260+) in your VERY near future. Otherwise stick to a lower wattage Antec. That would be primarily for upgrade room later as your current machine could easily get by on a 380W PSU. I'm sure I have my Wife's computer on a Antec EarthWatts 380W PSU with a 9800GT in it....

It'll be easier installing it outside the case, before you install the mobo in the case. I suppose it depends on how big or small your hands and case are. The smaller the case, the harder it'll be to put it on if the mobo is in the case

Hmm. What company made your 8800GT? I know EVGA has lifetime warranty I think, which in case you could return it and get a better one. I returned my 8600 GTS which was kind of crappy honestly, they didn't make those anymore so I got an 8800GT (which was a huuuge improvement). I think that if your 8800GT goes bad you can get one of the 9xxx series cards at no cost, hell I don't even remember...
