yeah, but it depends on what video card youre getting. if its the 4890, then its enough. actually all single cards will work on that, but if you have two, it might depend. two 4890s will need about 700 watts, so youre fine.

Without the BSOD code, we can only guess. but this sounds like you might have had bad drivers that cause a problem with your XP OS. However when you loaded up 7, the new drivers are running stable.

From what I've read online, the instructions that come with the Xig would have you install it in the most unintuitive way possible, lol. My only other question about it is that it ways more than half a kilo, and it's going to be attached horizontally on my vertical CPU. It isn't going to be too heavy, is it?

Slayer NCIX put up some storage class (5400rpm) 1TB drives on sale last night for $60 some bucks. If you check the US side of the site you may be able to scoop one up for cheap if there's any left.

Do not buy any 1156 processor for overclocking. They have a socket problem which will cause overheating. So i would either wait until they get the problem resolved, or go with the 920

Those will all work together. If you want to upgrade the processor in the future stick with the X58 stuff that you've got. The Gulftown chips (6core) will be on the 1366 socket.

OCing software only works with the features that your BIOS support. You're probably completely out of luck. OCing ram is directly tied into OCing the bus speed and changing fsb:ram ratios.

Wire management is what you want to look for you did post two of those from eBuyer, you could use something like PP Wire Management Kit it has lots of nifty ways to tuck & hid the wires out of view and when you get ready to move to a new case simply cut the zip times and pop off the holders. dust clogs fans and heatsinks making it harder for heat to escape. blow out all the dust in your computer and video card and see if that makes a different. your card is probably overheated and most likely needs to be replaced

It varies on their different needs. If they use their PC for basic work etc. and have decent processor but need more RAM, then put some more RAM in for them. If they have a Pentium III / IV, old Athlon etc. then it might be more helpful to tell them that they should really be thinking about buying a new PC altogether. I think the 4890 has similar performance to the GTX280, and they cost about £300. EDIT: You might have to get DDR3 RAM, as not many AM3 motherboards support DDR2.

Alright: Processor: You're not overclocking so you don't need an Extreme Edition Chip. Also having a super powerful processor isn't going to improve your gaming rig all that much. You can save a ton of money by going with a 920, an AM3 chip, or an i5. Motherboard: Why would you need the 4-Way board if you're only getting one GPU? Also you don't need a classified board if you're not overclocking...

I can't remember the last time I suggested a build on here, because Hii always makes a better one that saves more money. I'll leave it to Hii to configure the actual build for you. I'd suggest going with an i7 920 because that's a huge budget. You may even be able to get an i7 950. I'd also suggest a 5850 if you can get your hands on one. The overdrive utility is okay for overclocking on stock volts but as soon as you want to up the volts do it in the BIOS instead. The stability test tool and temperature gauges are pretty decent though along with it telling you pretty much everything about your comp that you'd ever need. get an AMD 965 3.4 Ghz processor, keep that RAM, get the overclocked HIS HD4890 at 965 mhz core clock, and the cheapest ddr2 AM3 motherboard there is (its from zotac and about 30 bucks after rebate). power it all with a 600 watt psu. sorry, im not bothered to get the actual links right now, especially after suggesting the same things over and over again
