well look at the most likely culprit - the PSU. the second likely culprit is the mobo, as the wiring to turn the system on goes through it. do you have another psu you can try? can you try your current psu in another computer?

Here's a build that I'm strongly considering: CPU/Mobo Case/PSU RAM BDU Monitor and Hard Drive have already been purchased. Regarding the Video Card: I would try my luck first with the onboard card, then, if necessary, i would probably go with this Video Card . Also, I went with the Retail Blu-ray in hopes that it would be easier to install. I've been reading reviews on the OEM and seems like it's a PIA to install. Am I...

Lorx, Sounds like a plan. Also, yes -- Your bios will have an option to disable onboard vid. Thing is, heh, you need to do it in appropriate order with your new video card install. 1) Install vid card. 2) Reboot machine 3) Open bios 4) Disable onboard vid (and enable PCI video if it asks) 5) Move VGA/DVI cable from onboard output to new vid card. 6) Hope it works. =) I'll admit it, I've been in a hurry.. or whatever you want to call...

Do they work on other computers or is it just his laptop thats not working with them? Try what Nu Wa said. I recall having a similar problem a while back and messing with USB drivers seemed to fix it if I remember correctly.

yeah the parts are compatible, but im sure i might be able to suggest something else for you. what is your budget? 600? and is your operating system included in that budget, or are you only taking into account the actual computer?

Take it back to the store! Be friendly, but firm and be ready to explain your problem clearly. Giving crap to employees isn't going to get you anywhere, believe me. If he can't do anything (most likely), just ask for the manager

That's not "windows power management crap" it's Cool 'n Quiet, which is built in the processor. It saves power by lowering voltage and frequency when you don't need it. Your RAM running at 800 MHz is perfectly normal since you have DDR memory, 800 * 2 = 1600 MHz So basically, there's absolutely nothing wrong going on P.S. 800 * 3 = 2400

you'll need a cd/dvd drive. and that video card, ditch it and get this one. this is some cheaper RAM, its $65 after the rebate. if you really wanted a 700W PSU, you should have gotten this. its $69.99 after a $30 rebate. and its enough for your CPU and two gtx 260s. hope you haven't bought all this yet.

Your board has a PCI-Express slot so pretty much anything will work, although your processor will heavily bottleneck a new graphics card. One thing you will have to upgrade is the power supply. Those older units aren't designed for modern, power hungry cards. That'll cost you somewhere around $50-$70 and then a good video card runs anywhere between $100 to $600

I don't really understand what you mean but i probably wouldn't know the answer anyway. If you can you should build your own pc instead of ordering a pre built one, that way you know all the parts you are using and you save alot of money.

if you don't wanna overclock, then you don't need the extra fan. and crossfire ain't difficult. running two cards at once. and your mobo and video card aren't available, and your mobo doesn't support the triple channel RAM you chose. and that dvd drive is sold out. anyways, here's my build for ya: CPU and Case Combo $357.97 Mobo $149.99 RAM $93.99 GPUx2 $159.99 x 2 = $319.98 HDD...
