Well, I know this is an old game but I just got it the other day to try it out. I can barely run the game, but according to SystemRequirementsLab I maxed out the game performance. I've been experiencing the problems too with my 8800 GTS. I was running x86 Windows XP with the 167 drivers with no problem, upgraded to the 195.xx and had stuttering every other second (literally). So I recently bought CoD2 off Steam, and when I play it, I get horrendous FPS... With 1280x1024, settings Medium/high, no AA, I get 20-ish FPS in Single player. In multiplayer, I got a good config (Danzer's) and it boosts the FPS up to a solid 90-ish, but it still drops to lower than 60 sometimes and without the config I even still sit at 20ish FPS.
