Published (2009-11-12 13:09:00)
Hey Guys, Im using the PID (FPGA).vi in LV 8.5.  Two questions: The T(s) sampling time parameter.  I have the value set in the properties at 10 uS (100 kHz), the loop it is in runs at 160 KHz, so what rate does the VI actually use?   The second is the scaling of the parameters on the Host side.  I have been using the "niFPGA ScalePIDGains.vi" found in the "Using Discrete PID - R Series" example.  This is fine and...

Yahoo!  <<SOLVED>>  After double checking my configuration, and sending things to the correct adresses...  indeed disconnecting the 'net address' on the UDP Open removed the error and I am now streaming as I was in LV 8.5.1.   Why would such a thing cripple my system?   Why would there be this change between LV 8.5.1 and LV 8.6.1?  I have no idea.  However, this problem that has paralyzed my...

Hi rtini,   You may have to try uninstalling all the software to make this work.  Does the NI License Manager still show an FPGA license?

Hi Kyle, I never active FPGA module because I did buy that. When I installed NI software, I installed all from the NI LabVIEW development suite. It was evaluation period. After evaluation period expired, the problem happened. I did uninstall the FPGA module, but the problem is still there. Regards, RTINI

OK, well I guess this information is worth sharing:    I just got a phonecall from NI Norway, they have confirmed my problem on their cRIO 9002. I have since that tested on a 9012, and the web server works there (with a new created project). So there seems to be a general problem with the web server on the 9002 in addition to the issue that started this tread.   Svein

Harshil,   Hybrid mode uses 2 DMA FIFOs, so unless you are using the other channel for something else in your program you should still have one available.   While I am not sure what exactly is causing the only 4 bytes read, there are some obvious mistakes that I see that should be fixed.   First, your open/reset/run are inside the while loop. I assume you dont want to continuously reset your FPGA, so I would move these outside the while...

Ambert- Depending on the resolution and speed of the measurements you are looking for, there is a National Instruments product that will be able to handle this.  As far as a transducer, National Instruments does not recommend 3rd party products.  Why did you post under the Real-Time Measurement and Control board?  You may find better help and more traffic from the community posting ...

Bones349,   Hello! A few ideas/questions   1.) You could do edge detection in your FPGA thus saving you lots of processing due to not needing to pass irrelevant data up to the Host code. 2.) What are you doing by splitting numbers before converting them to dynamic data type? I'm not surw what's going on there. You could use a waveform datatype instead as it would have a time ...

Dear hkhiroya   This does seem simple enough.... using 2 VISA read functions, set the first VISA read resource name to the serial port you are reading from. Using the second VISA read function wire the return count from the first VI to the byte count of the second VI. This will read the byte count from the serial port and then send this data to the read function of the second. Use a ...

You certainly can't do what you were trying there.  You will need at least two VIs for this application.  You will need a VI running under the FPGA target that can read and write the purple nodes (FPGA IO nodes).  You will need a VI running under the RT controller that can read and write the variables, like the yellow node in your picture.  To talk between the two VIs, use the FPGA ...

Hi rtini,   You probably have a VI running on the cRIO that may be blocking you.  In that dialog window, you should be able to continue anyways and stop any running programs (i.e. hit OK and it will redeploy settings and disconnect running VIs).   You can also try restarting the cRIO and seeing if that helps; it should stop running programs.  Did you build a startup executable?  If ...

It depends on what you mean by a closed loop.  Since you mentioned a control application, I'm guessing you want to perform point by point control and are attracted to the 4461 since it has 24 bit inputs and outputs.  If this is the case, the 4461 isn't ideal since it was designed to acquire dynamic signals.  It has very good dynamic range and THD characteristics, but it doesn't have ...

Hi,   Make sure that you don't forget to deploy the build application by right clicking the build specifications and clicking 'deploy'. Also make sure you set it as a setup. Make sure that when you reboot the cRIO, the VI is running automatically. Also make sure your windows firewall is disabled. If you follow the guide you referred to step by step, everything should be fine and you ...

Hey styl@n,   There are some IMAQ functions that could be used on the CRIO as a part of the FIRST competition. However, using IMAQ Vision functions on a sbRIO or the CRIO is not something that is supported and would not be recommended. If you are looking for embeded solutions that will work with IMAQ Vision functions, I would have to suggest the Compact Vision System , NI Smart ...
