Do a search for the lock n roll hitch or the (better) Max Coupler. Actually, better yet, I have a nice bookmark you might wanna look at. Here ya go: http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...ad.php?t=28295

looks good but i would worry about too much toung weight, you might consider a tandem axle set up. you could have a lot of fun with the design don't limit yourself, enjoy. that's my $.02

+1 on tongue weight. With the axle that far back and the bike riding up there, you're going to exceed the tongue weight on any hitch designed for our XJs by a good amount.

I've got a pintel hook on the trailer I use for camping, when you move around inside the trailer the hitch is pretty loud and annoying as it bangs around. It can shift the trailer an inch or two as well. If you are going to use a pintle hook make sure to have a way to stabilize it or it will drive you nuts. I usually just put the tounge jack down and lift it up until it is at the top of the hook.

1) Welcome!
2) Got you filed properly - there are just enough differences between vehicles that putting non-XJ/MJ posts in "Other Tech" cues us to change hats (and thinking) and makes it a bit more likely for you to get a useful answer.
3) If we can't do anything for you here, there are some other sources you might want to look into - although I suggest searching extensively...

my first thought would be taking it to whoever you had build it and asking those questions.
unless the work was done for free, is there any reason the builder isn't answering for their work?
I've no idea how coolant made its way upto the TB, a bad headgasket leak maybe. was any porting done? could they have taken more material out than was needed, or nicked into a coolant channel?

A buddy of mine used to have a 1999 Tahoe. After picking up a bumper pull R/V trailer, he put air bags, not adjustable shocks, on the rear suspension. He said it made an incredible difference in towing.

the 4.7 will do the trick. But if i was buying a jeep to possibly tow another jeep, i would go with the commander and the 5.7! that would be a much better rig to tow another vehicle with!

The XJ got the 0331 head for 2000, and the WJ and TJ got it for 1999.

they should all plug right up after you wire them to the harness..... Tekonsha is probably one of the best, and smoothest, but, they all work, so it is just a preference really

I had one of these.
Sorry to rain on the parade but, those things are junk. They're made to sell, not for longevity. They're designed in such a way that there a serious PIA to work on. Trust me when I say, you'll be money ahead to throw it to the curb and pick up a good one. I bought a Stil and it's been absolutely great. Starts on the 2nd pull everytime.
