Yea no need to turn a 5 minute drive to Mc Ds into an hour long ride/wait. The public transportation system there rocks.

It's a beautiful island for sure. Remember to hit up all the honeymoon spots (which is pretty much everywhere). A few recommendations: go when it's warm and off season, i.e. late May through July; visit an 오름 and walk to the top; visit 성산 일출봉 - get to the parking lot at least 30 minutes before sunrise so you can give yourself enough time to get to the top!...

if you are living in Tokyo, a car is pretty useless. If you plan on driving in Japan. Get an international driver's license before you go. I know US drivers need one but its only good for a year, after that time, you need to go and get a Japanese license which is quite expensive and a bit of an ordeal. what are you going to be doing in Japan? I'm going to guess teaching english since you are leaving in August.

Most places in Tokyo you won't really need a car that much. They have buses and trains that go everywhere. Parking and gas are expensive there too.

Unless it is an old classic car that's like 25 years old you shouldn't bother. Just either sell your car, buy a cheap JDM car when you get there & save up the rest of your money or have someone keep it until you can drive it again. I'll be there in...

Not a bad place, although not as nice, or cultured as Sydney. It's expensive too, housing is off the charts. Great car scene there, and lots of cool tin we don't get on this side of the pond. Gas ("petrol") is over $1.25 a liter. It's a pretty livable city, though. Very spread out; worst urban sprawl in the southern hemisphere, it's like LA or Houston. Great beer, lots of good eats, and lots to...
