However, weighing each rod from many sets from many manufacturers will give people a good idea on who is consistent and who is not.

My thoughts on the cooling issue, is either the pump is cavitating at sustained HIGH RPM use. The pump is moving the coolant TOO fast and the radiator isn’t cooling it. The pump is not moving enough volume to pull the heat from the block. It’s something that needs to be figured out the V8 guys have.

Valve clearance out of spec? Engine probably won't idle, does it? The idle valve is completely different which also has a huge influence on driveability. Better to swap your EJ18 heads over (they flow better any way, the single exhaust port heads are crap) and use original manifold with wiring etc it will run fine (if the 2.2 s/b is OK).

My first thought has to do with cooling. Basically, making things more effective for cooling. This is an offshoot of some of what we learned on last year's one lap of america. We ran into some cooling issues then, and that got me to thinking for a long time about the subject. I want to run you though my thought process, and throw my idea out there for this one, and see what folks thinks....

Measure the bores without torque plate and measure them again with torque plate fitted. After this you know there is only one RIGHT way to do a bore/hone job!!! Mark.
