Sounds like the heating element was damaged = difficult to safely repair. Check out the new electric fireplaces. They are inexpensive, relatively efficient, portable and throw a lot of heat. John Kogel www.allsafehome.ca

These are the most inefficient heating systems ever designed, although they're great for heating the attic. I would suggest you look into alternative methods for heating, rather than repairing this system.

Any ideas on reapiring these systems? I have one where the electrical heating wire was cut during the install of a ceiling fan box and would like to get it back up and running. It would require a special splice and some real expertise.

It is unfortunate when the economy is done so bad that even people that qualify for Habitat for Humanity can't afford them. Watch HERE Marcel

I've been reading about the advantages of insulating both the unfinished attic floor and rafters in areas of hot sunny weather. Not that Chicago compares to Fresno but I have never once seen insulation between rafters. Is it trapped humid air between the insulation and sheathing that makes it a bad idea for the midwest? Thanks

This unit has about 3" of marble and 1" of firebox before the mdf surround. the mdf gets very hot when operated and i think its a fire hazard. is the builder liable even after his one year warranty period has expired? help... ps i am an internachi member, ...

I've seen great stuff foam sprayed into openings but I've never seen it applied in the attic this way. Any ideas as to why this would be sprayed here? The insulation was pulled up when I entered the attic otherwise I would not have seen this. It was sprayed in several areas throughout.

Kitchen exhaust fan and light does not have a liner in the area around it. Exposed wood and drywall. Should a metal or steel liner have been built in this area to keep it from being covered with grease when cooking?

I'd hate to be this builder. Look at the "defects" the buyer has marked with painters tape. (It all looked pretty good to me.) 110308 073 [640x480].JPG 110308 074 [640x480].JPG 110308 075 [640x480].JPG

So I'm walking on an 8 year old tile bathroom floor, and it feels like I'm crushing the mortar underneath as I walk. There is deteriorated grout between the tiles on several areas. As never having laid tile before, what went wrong during the install? I can attach pix if you want, but I'm at the job now and haven't uploaded them yet. Thanks
