Well - the Microsoft app worked a treat! Seamless install of Ultimate. I followed the Windows 7 - Ultimate Drivers list and installation guide and hit no snags at all. I'm really impressed with the increase in performance so far. Oh, by the way, HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Irvin

Published (2009-12-21 12:14:00)
Tried using Win7 Bluetooth native drivers and also install the Broadcomm drivers but unsuccessful to pair it with my Mini 9. My Mini 9 successfully discovered the MSI Headset(A2DP). Upon click on pairing, it will turn off my headset. I tried pairing it with another PC(WinXP X64) and it works flawlessly. Any suggestion to pair it successfully?

Dell Battery Meter (btmeter.exe)
Published (2009-12-23 02:24:00)
Got this from Dell's driver page for the 10v -- what does it do? It installed C:\Program Files\Battery Meter\btmeter.exe which when I launch, just runs in the background. Windows 7 already has the stock battery meter, and I can't find anything in the interface that btmeter adds.

I don't know how much easier the step-by-step instructions at the link above can be. Failing that, there is absolutely no freakin' freakin' way way EVER to change the background for Windows 7 Starter.

As I understand it, Microsoft decided to make each edition of W7 "fixed" as to the edition. They said they did this to be less confusing, but it does prevent you from activating a different edition than the one you installed. There's a file in the unpacked ISO which, if you delete, will allow you to activate any edition. I forget the details, but I recall we discussed it here during the beta....

Not sure about the mini 10v, but the battery meter on the mini 9 enables other stuff like caps-lock notifications or something similar as well. However, the extra features included are the only noticeable effects in Win 7.

No 32bit consumer version of Windows can use 4GB of RAM. Period. They're all limited to 3.X GB.
And Starter Editions are intentionally crippled and have lower limits.

hello and Welcome to the forum,
I have a Mini 10 with the z530 and a 500gb drive...I have both Win XP Pro and Win 7 Ultimate loaded, I think that XP might run a little faster than Win 7, but Win 7 isnt slow by any means....I dont think that the z520 compared to the z530 makes that much of a difference..probably makes some though...dont know what else to tell ya, good luck.......

When you power on, go into the BIOS by pressing 2. See what BIOS version you're using. I believe you may need to be running at lease A03. You can download the current version, A04 from Dell's website .
somms has also put together a bootable bios installer that you can use if xp isn't still available on your mini.
