You may want to reload Win7. I have not heard of anyone else having trouble with this driver.

Thanks fbyte and Ichiban, fbyte's crdisk_A05 file had the fix I needed after bricking my wife's mini 9 with the Bios update for version 5. Fbytes fix should be linked up at the front with the instructions on recovering the Bios using the linux tools. I have done plenty of Bios updates using the Windows exe and never had a problem before. My wife had some files she needed on her mini and so was not realy happy with me. I was going to...

Hmm. I had the same issue come up on my Dell Mini 9 (8GB SSD ). I opened up the back (2 screws) and reseated the SSD card. Also found out that it was only held with 1 screw when normally 2 screws hold it in place. (Got this thing used and the orig owner probably messed with it). I took one of the screws from the Wireless card --figured I want to secure the HD more than the WIFI. I had to reseat this twice before the SSD was finally working...

Glad that it help you. All BIOS should have that option of automatic recovery, maybe one day I will do some more digging in the process, because basically that recover bootable disk is a DOS (freedos) with a special boot loader that at the end executes the winflash.exe to flash the bios in the same way you would do it from DOS. It could be used for something else bypassing the BIOS completely Anyway, I know flashing from Windows is quicker,...

The reason the video is shuttering is because the CPU is too hot, and it is throttling it. The hissing I think is something with the system speaker, not sure they are related.
You could get a laptop chill pad to see if you can keep it cool enough to get through the whole movie.
Or if you like modding you can add the Crystal HD Decoder card, and a WIFI dongle (internal or external). This ...

Your poor puppy probably toasted your power adapter. I would be very hesitant to plug the power plug back into the netbook in fear that a surge would happen and blow the netbook.
I think people have talked on here about using a Targus laptop power adapter with some tip 14 that works for 9/10s.

anyone else experiencing this? some Dell TSR is trying to pass this off as how the hardware has been designed... which is total BS. why would you waste battery charge cycles when it's plugged in to AC power.
EDIT: i'm still on phone with them... looks like this guy, after consulting who ever he consults, finally realizes this isn't normal... i'm off to RMA support for repair/replacement.

Yours is a familiar tale here - the SSD has failed. Even though it shows up, it refuses to be read from or written to. If it is still under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement.

No soldering is required to replace the screen. It is a complex task to disassemble the Mini 9 to get to the screen, but once you're there, replacement is straightforward. Make careful note of the placement of the display cable before you disconnect it, especially how it goes through the hinge. Take your time and be careful separating the display bezel from the lid.
As for the boot problem...

I'm not an expert, but chances are that both are probably in good working order. The problem vary well may be just an incompatibility. Things to check could be BIOS (update it if you can), the mini 9 can't handle CAS 3 latency (assuming you got the one from newegg), the Hyper-X can't be underclocked, or possibly, for some reason, win 7 can't handle it.
After checking the BIOS, you could try ...

Can you connect with your mini at other hotspots? Will it work with cat5 cable? Mine worked at other hotspots & with cat5 cable. It took a firmware upgrade of my router to connect wireless in Ubuntu (however, other computers worked using windows xp).
