Uno - Crankshaft bearing failure?
Published (2009-11-27 12:06:00)
As long as the bearing didn't totally disintegrate allowing for the meeting of metal bits that shouldn't, you should be relatively OK. Once the seal on the bearing in question goes, oil gets into all kinds of places it shouldn't. The smoke is understandable. As long as the motor didn't overheat, which would lead to nasty warped heads and whatnot... The only issue is that you literally pull the engine & rip it apart...

If you really mean the bit about not being fussy, forget the BMW, based on
insurance and repair costs. Unless, off course, it comes with a
substantially better warranty/maintenance plan, but with 85000 on it I
would doubt this.

also when buying a diesel, you more likely to look at the NM than at the kw.

depends on speed they crossed the line, remember they just going faster and
faster, depends on where you measure the speed, you can measure the
distance i.e if you measure the speed at 1/3 of a mile, you can then
measure the distance, or something like that. But in this case 0-100 times
are useless, as some cars spin off the line and only get warp speeds in 3rd
gear etc...but you acn work it out,...

No. Not as a primary car. If youre going to keep it as a collectors item,
then sure, because it will increase in value.

How good or bad is the jeep compass - Top Gear give it a 5/20...is it that bad have read some reviews where it polled quite high...its probably not as good as the honda cr-v (top gear rated 11/20) but surely it can't be that bad...anyone out there to defend its honour:

I know that adding larger/smaller tyres gives you an incorrect reading on the speedo and effects gearing - but by how much?
I've worked out the rolling diameter of my tyres - and the larger tyres only have a 1cm extra rolling diamter (unless my calculations are wrong). Surely 1cm makes a negligable difference?

Hi all
I've read about the M3 with the M-DCT gearbox, was wondering if anyone here has it. How has it been in day to day driving, along with some "spirited" driving? And does anyone here have the manual version? Personally I'm a manual guy but I drove the DCT and it is so smooth...
Opinions please?

Hi, I'm am having trouble understanding Metrorail's train timetables.
I have to travel from Strand to Stellenbosch on a Saturday these holidays. I have to take a train from Strand to Eersterivier and then get on another one which goes to Stellenbosch from there.
According to this timetable I can get on Train 3206 at Strand at 06:30 and arrive in Eersterivier at 06:55. However, how do I ...
