If it's a new drive you need not do a "slow" format. A quick format would have been fine. Guess it's too late now

H50 is awesome. I'd wait for stock of that to come in.
The next best thing is the Coolit Domino ALC imo, although I'm not entirely sure if its compatible with 1156... and I'm way too lazy to check.

i7 is still more sophisticated, it supports multi-threading for each core, ie 8 virtual cores. The i5 does not have multi-threading, only the 4 cores.
And the version of the i7 with the larger pin-out supports triple channel RAM, the i5 and the new i7 only support dual channel RAM.
But the i5 also has some new features, eg the ability to overclock one CPU automatically, while slowing ...

GPU RAM is basically used for the resolution of a monitor, the higher the resoultion the higher a graphics card RAM should be, it's even more important if you're going to max out on all a games settings. The bit is important but the actual GPU is the true speed, think of it as a processor(which it is).

1920 x1080 is fullHD.
the other one is not a native hd format, but will give you 120 extra pixels of screen space....
I think 1920x1080 is also a better aspect for movies (it's wider) but all in all it doesn't matter too much on a PC Screen

Local users should not expect the HD5970 to come cheap. Currently the HD5970 retails for R3999, a rough guess for the new HD5970 is around R8000 – R9000.
Shouldn't it read "Currently the HD5870 retails for R3999," not HD5970 retails for R3999?

Ok, so linked to my thread yesterday about funny stuttering sound, last night it got worse. The PC froze and when I restarted, my 2nd 200gig didn't get picked up. I stressed, shouted, swore but went on with it. Then, while backing stuff up to my external, the PC froze again and this time, nothing got picked up and it just stayed blackscreen. More swearing (along with a tear or two) at the loss of...
