header wrap is a double edged sword. It holds the head into the headers, which is good for everything else under the hood, but leads to the premature destruction of the headers. It also holds in moisture, and contaminates that naturally cooks out of the headers, so it makes the rot a lot faster than normal, especially if you run JBA or BBK chrome headers instead of a nice stainless steel header. I stick to my guns about headers in general....

If it still sticks after cleaning, maybe take a file and LIGHTLY deburr the edges of the throttle blade. After taking the throttle blade off so filings don't end up in the intake of course.

I've never had to do this, but I hear you can find a vaccuum leak by spraying WD40 around the area where you suspect the leak. The leak will suck in the WD, and cause a momentary change in RPMs as it goes through the intake. This will help you narrow down the area of the leak at the very least. The first thing I'd do is start looking to see if anything came loose or unplugged somewhere. How mechanically inclined are you? P.S. I am...

I completely blanked before. I was thinking about the larder spring on the throttle body not the return spring. I can imagine now how it could be done.

Don't let the transmission scare you. I had a T45 in my car when I bought it and swapped to the T56 Cobra 6 speed (did the swap myself). Any 99-04 Mustang GT, Cobra or Mach 1 can have the T56 installed, it is a bolt in. Here is a thread I posted after the install. T45 to T56 swap into 99-04 GT - ModularFords.com

well If the '03 is much like the '98 interior it should be fairly easy to replace that switch. The Haynes manual should have a diagram for removal and installation. If I remember correctly there are a few screws on the bottom of the steering wheel cover that you need to remove, then you have to remove the ignition switch which involves putting in the key and turning it to the on position ...

Try your spare key, I'll be willing to be the transmitter battery is weak and insn't always being read by the PATS system. If this is the case, you will have to buy another key with the PATS system and program it to your car. If your failing key can still start the car one more time and you have a spare key, you can program the new key/keys yourself. Here is a copy of the 1998 Mustang GT...

you sure your working on a 4.6 they dont have push rods...... stock heads are fine and work well depending on what your plans are. get the heads checked out at your local machine shop. I would also get them decked as well. do new valve gude seals, if your keeping stock cams no need to mess with the springs or lash adjusters,

I searched the forum and couldn't find this topic so please don't chew me out if there's already one. I'm thinking about getting some BBK shorty headers for my 04 GT. My dad says if I do that I'll have to have my starter rebuilt into a NASCAR starter and I'll have to have a heat shield put on it. He comes from the old muscle car era so I didn't know if this had to be done on the 4.6L's. ...

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being a spark plug change difficulty, 10 being an engine build, I would rate installing cams a 7.5. They aren't difficult, but very easy to make a mistake on the timing aspect on a 4.6 engine. They are also time consuming. Plan on 2-3 full days of work if you're working by yourself and have never done them before. This assumes that you are confident and competent enough...
