Thanks much! I went to the shop yesterday and talked about baking the block (once I get it stripped down) and having the rotating assembly balanced. I did some work on the motor last night! Well, removed the econoline accessories and wiring and such... while still in the bed of my truck... So happy Thanksgiving to you all!

some good and bad news. today i got the car started, ended up hooking up white/pink with red/ light blue, and it got her fired up. but while it was running i noticed the engine was making a ping noise pretty loud, around the passenger side bank. i also noticed that the oil started to look kinda milky, and the smoke was coming out kinda smelly like it was burning oil. i doubt its gonna pass smog in this state. i think i have a blown head...

it could be the bushings.....if you want a close up of the hinges with the fender off...i have mine off right now...if you click on the pic it will enlarge. its really not that bad to take the fender off...if you decide to go that route make sure you dont lose the bolts lol...... the cars were painted from the factory with the bolts already on so its really easy to line the fender back up......

You need a wiring schematic and to check your power at the brake light switch. If you have power there, then you need to see if the circuit is opening and closing at the switch, if its working, then you have a break in the wiring in between the switch and the lights. oh also check your grounds at the lights first. that could be the problem and save you a lot of headaches all together.

I have a 89 LX 5.0 that has been lowered. I just replaced the upper strut rod bushings so I was told it needed a alignment. Took it to Goodyear and the tech said I had no caster/camber adj left. It is adjusted as far out as it can go. The car has no pull to either side and drivers straight but don't want to wear my new tires. The wheels lean out just a little at the top of the wheel. What can I ...

flaming river makes a sweet 15:1 manual rack for about $160. but you need the shaft as well.. so if you swap you you might have about $400 in parts. i did it and would change my '05 over if anyone made the parts! i just hate the mess of power steering when they leak.
i feel more of the road, and parallel parking is not so bad...

That sh*t will probably fry right off and smoke and stink a lot while it does. I've heard of people using the expensive ceramic paint, and having that chip and peel off after a few heat cycles. I've also heard of people using Rustoleum brand flat black BBQ paint. Good to 2000 degrees or something, and it supposedly works well, and costs about $5. I've got headers, and I never had a desire to...
