That's actually very curious, because I thought the opposite. It took me much longer to warm up to upbeat tunes that I know love like Cemetery Gates and William, It Was Really Nothing than it did to their ballads. I do love that Johnny Marr guitar though! Same with Tom Waits.

Well from what I hear just about everything. A bunch of audiophiles that are as crazy about music as the craziest members on here, I'm guessing.

I like these themed compilations, far more thought put into the choices rather just what you think sounds cool. Now just for clarification the genre won't just consist of "punk" but anything that's along those lines right? Kind of a stupid question but you see I've got this friend and well you know how these things are...

It's Mike Patton. No one has greater range than Mike Patton, and he's done more for music than so many people.
Ben Gibbard, bleh. I like The Postal Service. Doug Martsch is what Ben Gibbard wishes he could be, in like, everything.

I used to be something that i see so much of in this country which is the young, narrow minded, British indie follower who may as well carry a copy of the NME around in their breast pocket like a security blanket or a Bible instead of keeping a copy in the john for when you run out of toilet paper like the rest of us. I don't remember liking any music other than really awful 90's dance and pop ...

Just because your songs aren't accessible doesn't make them worthwhile. Somehow the Lips, caught up in the post-partum depression of their last blooming failure, decided to go the anterior route and produced an annal of free-form synth noodlings. I didn't find it abrasive or unusual, just inescapably boring. Apologies Wayne.
