QUOTE(g.johnson @ Nov 9 2009, 12:35 PM) Also the best bit of product placement I seen, or rather heard, in a while. (For the PC afflicted Wall E's startup sound is that of a Mac.) That's so funny. We have both Mac and PC's at home. When I heard the sound I associated it with my laptop - a PC

The Kid Stays in the Picture - Robert Evans autobiography. I found it interesting to see one person's experiences in Hollywood back in the 70s. 3:10 to Yuma - Western starring Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. A remake of an oldie. I very much enjoyed it until the last 20 minutes. To me the last section wasn't believable within the world of the movie. Cloverfield - Awful monster movie from JJ Abrams. The character who held the...

The Good Shepherd . I'm only 2 years behind everyone else. And jeez, what a ponderous, muddled affair. Way too long, way too confusing, not much to care about. Two good moments that should have been in a much better movie: When they give LSD to the Russian defector they've been torturing & after the drug takes hold he goes on about how everything in the USSR is painted rust, no threat at all, but we in the US need to believe...

Vatel - Not sure how I missed this one. Gerard Depardieu is Vatel, a royal steward trying to impress the King and save the estate. Absolutely amazing food scenes and a kitchen to die for.

Woman in the Dunes , and The Celebration , both excellent in very different ways (except you need to avoid falling asleep during the opening scene in Dunes). I imagine the photography of Dunes will be appreciated after the taste for the grainy handheld digital video of the Dogma/Blair Witch era is lost.

QUOTE(Lex @ Jul 1 2009, 09:08 AM) That horrendous ripping sound you heard last Sunday at noon was a massive tear in the space time continuum. On her new show Sandra showed us how to make hot dogs. Hot dogs. She offered helpful hints like "Put each one into a bun." Just when you thought the Food Network couldn't sink any lower. I'm glad she said something, Lex. Up until ...
