QUOTE(Blondie @ Dec 9 2009, 01:30 PM) <shill alert>Interested parties can listen to a clip and purchase "The House That Horse Built", the song inspired by Colum's book, from Joe's website </shill alert>. The song can also be purchased at CDBaby. I should add that the song is divided into three parts due to the length, so you'll need to get all three for the full...

I have now seen Joe at least five or six times and at this show he and his band, including the fantastic pair of James...

One hit wonders of the Decade

QUOTE(ghostrider @ Dec 7 2009, 01:05 PM) QUOTE(Lex @ Dec 7 2009, 12:57 PM) Last week I was wandering around a store and they played "Bad Day" over the audio system. This Powter fucker has a lot to answer for. It's marginally more tolerable when performed by The Chipmunks: Brace yourself. There's a second Chipmunk movie about to be released. Evidently some people actually watched...

Anyone who watches American Idol is familiar with "Bad Day." At least that one is an actual song. I never heard any of the others in the top five before today.

Naming a song "Laffy Taffy" is pretty much a guarantee of awfulness.

Terror Squad was Fat Joe's outfit, and he's still out there. "Lean Back" is a lot of fun.

I am having trouble remembering these one hit wonders listed according to Billboard as reported on HP QUOTE NEW YORK — As far as one-hit wonders go, Daniel Powter is king of them all – for this decade, at least. Powter, whose hit "Bad Day" reigned on top of the Billboard pop charts for five weeks in 2006, was named as the decade's top one-hit wonder by Billboard. The magazine describes one-hit wonders as acts whose...

QUOTE(Daisy @ Jan 15 2007, 05:13 PM) Thanks to Blondie, a bunch of us saw Joe Hurley last night at Joe's Pub (which is a really nice venue if you manage to catch a seat that is not behind one of the pillars--easy if you arrive early). I know he's been knocking around New York for years but I was not terribly familiar with his songwriting, which I now know I like very much. His band was ...

I haven't yet watched all four hours-- I caught the tail end last night and the beginning bit tonight, I'm still missing Aretha's set and whatever came between her and the first part of U2's set. I expected to dislike the show, mostly because I usually find those Hall of Fame shows where they pile everyone together at the end of the night to be kind of embarrassing and not very rock 'n' ...

i want it too. theoretically. but i am yet to find a single source that explains clearly what is included in this set, how exactly it differs from all the beatles cd's i already own, and what the relationship of both (this set, and the older cd issues) to the originals is.

As long as the focus remains classical, I don't see how it can be a bad thing. I love WNYC, but sometimes I can't deal with all the talk/news. I prefer the music format of WQXR, although they don't always play what I want to hear. Will the new format be all about yap? I hope not. But why diss Telemann?
