QUOTE(rancho_gordo @ Dec 2 2009, 09:26 AM) For me, the Acer Aspire is better than my very nice Dell laptop because I actually use it. It fits in a brief case or packback with no fuss and seems fast enough. The battery lasts 5 hours and the built in mic and webcam make it ideal for Skype. I also have the Acer Aspire, purchased solely for use while traveling. What I like: --it's compact and fits easily into the back pocket...

I see there are some positive comments about Netbooks on this thread. But there must be some reason they're half the price of laptops. Why wouldn't a Netbook be a good idea for me? I would use it for web access, editing Word documents, and playing music using Rhapsody. Grateful if anyone can point out disadvantages, or the major advantages of a laptop in comparison. Thanks.

I'm awaiting delivery of an Acer Aspire 10.1" from Tiger Direct that came bundled with a USB DVDRW drive and a protective bag for $310 - a CyberMonday thrill to supplement my desktop and laptop. Sure it runs XP Home and not W7, but that's fine for my purposes, travel and in my kitchen for recipes and music

AT&T: caps on iPhone use on...
Published (2009-12-09 22:14:00)
The Wall Street Journal reports that AT&T plans to impose caps and fees on users of its Apple iPhone. According to an article posted on the WSJ site, AT&T may impose tiered pricing based on use, likely in early 2010. AT&T has been under pressure for network failures, especially in New York and San Francisco. An attempt to "throttle back" or limit the most aggressive system users has drawn interest...

QUOTE(memesuze @ May 21 2008, 08:09 PM) [Sorry if there's a general Mac question thread, I couldn't find it quickly.] I only use a Mac when I'm doing what I'm doing now - housesitting for the owner of an iMac. How do I gently narrow the Safari window? On a PC, I'd put the cursor over near the edge, hold the click, and pull it in a tad, but that doesn't seem to translate into this ...

From both review sites and friends, I've heard that the latest go-around of Windows Mobile is...meh. Meh at best. Apparently it's still quite stuck in its stylus-based architecture, even with a touch screen. My advice if you want to stick with Verizon is the Droid which is, most agree, far and away the best phone on Verizon (unless you are a BB fan). Of course, it is an Android phone...

not me, but, depending on how cheap you mean, I'd look at a new Acer Aspire - they run ~~ $3-400, depending on your source.

QUOTE(StephanieL @ May 7 2008, 09:59 PM) Has anyone had experience with the new Time Capsule? I've been having a devil of a time setting up. For some reason, I can't establish an Internet connection, even though the device seems to recognize my ISP & DHCP numbers. Consequently, I can't even do a backup, which is what I really got this for. Stephanie, Are you using Time Capsule...
