Blown Pure XCR HUB???

Well took it a part which is a prettty simple task. The freehub and the geared insert spin free under pressure. Looks like a simple fix as well , but won't be riding this weekend.

You can ride them right out the box. However for a more durable and lower maintenance wheel you would do best by having them checked out. I went through one of my friends and found quite a bit of difference in tension throughout the wheels. By evening it out the wheel will be stronger and last longer. It is not a requirement, but it does reduce headaches over time.

hows the eXCeption compound? its really light at 480g for a 2.1. ive heard good things about the high roller in general, but not that compound. maxxis says "race only" which sounds like another way of saying non-durable.. ? im open to other suggestions as well. im looking for a tire with decent wet (not muddy) performance that rolls fast. my mibro has absolutely zero traction over wet roots and does pretty bad over wet rocks too....

I have had loads of wheels from Chain Reaction and have been more than happy with them, This includes Chris King and Hope builds.
Price wise they are top banana as well, and where very proactive in sorting out an issue when they built a wheel as a 20mm rather than qr, they offered to build a new one from scratch for me but I asked just for the 20mm to qr kit and I would do it. They even ...

morsetaper,
You are in luck. The wheelset you have is an SL. The giveaway is the flat spokes.
It being black most people mistake it for the XL wheelset. However the XL comes with round spokes.
I have a set exactly the same and so does a mate. So far as I know this is the timeline give or take

I have run Sun SOS rims and I am about 240lb. They are not a very good rim IMO. The construction is cheap (bad joints, variance in sidewalls, built-in hop). Also the material itself is soft. Couple these with the weight and width of these and you kind of set yourself up for issues. For strictly xc and wheels on the ground they will be fine, but as soon as you get more aggressive with them be...

Aspens Specs & Info
The Aspen 26x2.25 is still in the testing / development phase, and so the specs have not been finalized. Here are a few photos- it's a large tire.
I won't be posting any rider evaluations of the tire, but expect Geoff Kabush and Mathieu Toulouse to be riding it quite a bit...

Well it looks like nobody has any solid experience with these particular hubs.... The only way for me to test them (as I live in Hong Kong) is to drop the coin and hope for the best. Just placed my order....$630 usd for front and rear (including postage).
Will be sure to provide a full run down on my thoughts and experience with them once I have had a few good rides.
Cheers,
Josh

As the title states, I'm looking for the highest volume 26" knobby under 1000 grams . I'm using it for winter riding on snow machine(mobile) trails. I've been using 26 x 3" downhill tires, but would like to try out a lighter weight knobby that will still fit in my frame. These will be getting mounted on 70mm wide rims, so volume over width would be paramount. A taller 2.5 will(should) spread out...

Well iv always run tubes. and cus iv run tubes, i get the occasional flat. but iv heard a lot of talk about tubeless and how it can really cut down on your flats. So for all of those who have gone tubeless..
Do you think the upgrade is worthwile and worth the money?
Also, what sort of materials do i need to completley go tubeless? Im assuming new tires but any other odds and ends stuff?...

I liked my Crossmark, but after a while it got tiny holes in the sidewall,
I wasn't running Stans.

Are you going to be running them tubeless? Is strength a priority over weight?

Thank you.
I read somewhere that Bontragers are generally very hard to get on/off of rims. I thought it was just me. :-) Will the Armadillo go off/on easier? Not that I'll need to do it very often if they really are very flat resistant.

you definately should avoid shifting into the largest front and rear and
the smallest front and rear at the same time.

I agree with you 100% on the wheel upgrade.
You can have a set of Hope Pro II hubs, DT spokes and DT 4.2d rims built for ~550. The only downside is the rear hub is noisy. Might not matter to you, the hubs are great.
Hope front hubs can be converted to 15mm or 20mm axles. I really hope the 15QR is not another Shimano standard like center lock rotors. I do think it helps, but thats ...

I too was not all that pleased with the Minion DHF as a front tire. Maybe if I was a downhiller, stuffing it into turns at max lean angles, but it seemed to have a dead zone when partly leaned over.
The DHEA which I am running ghetto at 25psi is feeling really good. It is very predictable, and bites down through the " kitty litter" which Arizona has a lot of.
I am running the DHF in the rear...

OK, I'm all in. Committed to tubeless on all wheels. Two 29er wheels, a 26, a 650B and soon road tires too. I used to have Mavic Crossmax UST with Hutch tubeless tires and I never used sealant unless tires stopped holding air without. Now I have Stans sealant in all tires. All are (mostly) holding air. I have removeable valve cores and a Stans plunger/syringe.
How do you know when it's...

I only got about 100 miles on a 2.4 ust as a rear tire before it started
bubbling in the tread... I have emailed Conti with no reply after a couple
of weeks. The tire seemed OK as a rear but I'd have liked to get way more
miles on it.
