Ah ha. If you measure from directly above the headset on the front of the steerer horizontally to the centre of the seat post it measures up fine. If you measure from the centre of the steerer tube to the centre of the seat post ( as per web site diagram ) it measures up a size small.

I measured the eye to eye for you Gripo. The standard eye to eye is 215mm and new measurement, as expected, is now 205mm. I had a 10mm spacer put in the shock. 1/2" is about 12mm, so yes, the eye to eye is less 10mm and the shock shaft is less 10mm, making for around the 120mm rear travel mark (calculated), but all set up and allowing for ruler inaccuracies etc, I seem to hit an actual rear travel number of 116mm. The BB drop was...

Thanks for the info, I've just been looking at geometry charts for both and it would seem that the shorter shock gets the LT2 pretty close although the BB on a LTst might still be a little higher, but that's ok. LT2 geo> http://www.santacruzbicycles.com/blu...php?geometry=1 4X geo> http://www.santacruzbicycles.com/blu...php?geometry=1 Once xmas/new yr are done I will try and get a hold of a RP23. Im sure a lot of people would say its a bad idea but i think it would be awesome!! I have a friend installing them on his banshee rune right now and it has about the same geo as the nomad. There are a ton of new bikes coming out that are really slack trailbikes and i think it will be the trend soon. One thing to consider is your BB height will drop quite a bit. With switching to a zero stack headset and slackening out your bike it will drop it...

If you have ridden/own one of these, what is your opinion of the bike compared to other 29ers you have ridden. My main concern is this being a carbon fiber bike. I have never owned one and I am worried about the strength of the frame. I ride is some rocky areas at times. Thanks for the insight.

I love this F-ing bike so much that I think my wife is a little jealous. I have had this bike for about 2 years, and i recently did a lot renovating. Basically everything is new except shifters/derailleurs/bar/grips.
The spec is:
2005 Santa Cruz Chameleon Large
Fox 32 Vanilla RLC
Chris King Headset
Mavic EX823's/Wheelsmith DB Spokes/Wheelsmith Nipples
Hope Pro II Hubs & Hope Skewers

I am one of the guys who have made the switch for good. The shorter shock is 8. 5 X 2.5 and the travel right around 7.7 inches in the back. My geometry, if figured correctly, is around 66.5 degrees and the bb height is right at 14.5 inches. This is all static of course. I have the bike set up as a freeride/trailride with single crown. I've been running an '07 Van RC2 and the bike feels really ...

Im using some clear plastic film that I purchased from Tap Plastics
http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/category.php?bid=2 4&
Its clear, adhesive backed plastic which I cut to size to place at cable rub areas,
the bottom side of down tube, seat and chainstays.
Seem to work well and it was only ~$4.00 for a 24"x 24" piece.

I had the DHX-C on it when I bought it, and it was fantastic, performance was easily the best, but coupled with a Marz Z1 light it brought the weight up to over 33lb. Complete overkill for the majority of the riding I do (but so worth it on a day trip in the Welsh mountains!). I know from previous bikes that air cans are a compromise in terms of outright performance, but the weight loss is worth ...

Interesting article in a recent Dirt.
Basically, they did a comparison of the V10 and D8. The gist of the review was "you'd be crazy to buy a D8 ahead of a V10"
Reckone the V10 was faster, accelerated better, carried speed better, and was better in every aspect. Better bike for the likes of Whistler too, they thought.
They didn't think the D8 was a more playful bike, and made the ...

2.1 is an awfully narrow tire for a trail bike. I'm 165lb and I ride my XL
Heckler with 2.35 Nevegals summer, and 2.4 Enduro Pros fall/winter. 26-28
psi for the rooty/rocky/slippery stuff we got in the Pac NW area. 30-34psi
when I'm riding where snake bites might be a problem. If you are running
2.1's because you are worred about 'sluggish' response, you bought the
wrong bike for the type of ...

Hi Guys,
I know that some of you are using a Totem on their Nomad and I was wondering if you use it in a 180mm or 160mm setting? Do you think that with the Totem at 180mm, it still rideable for all-mountain/xc (Im getting confused with all the different names.. but well, going up!)?
Also, do you guys use a DHX air, RC4 or Monarch to match the Totem?
If you have some pics as well, ...
