40 minutes North of Big Rapids, Cadillac has an 11 mile single track, just off of the XC trail. It is directly behind the Vocational school. For further directions talk to the guys at McClain's Cycle downtown Cadillac.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...96626d7e7fe 810 Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't look like there are many options near Big Rapids. Definately check out the NCT. There are some sections that exclude bikes, but the sections that are open are supposed to be pretty good. I know there is always talk about re-invigorating the trail at Hungerford; the Western Chapter of the MMBA may have ...

If you post this on the MMBA forum , you will likely get a more better response.

Looks like I'm going to be working in the Detroit area for a couple of months and I'm hoping to check out some local trails in my spare time. I'm pretty sure I'll be staying in Livonia and hoping there's some trail close enough to hit after work during the week (working til 4pm or so). Anything good nearby or should I bring the road bike for during the week and MTB on weekends?

The Mariner North has a couple cabins behind the main hotel. Lake Fannie Hoe resort also has a few cabins. Neither is overly large, the ones at the mariner have two bedrooms, a small kitchen and living room. The ones at fannie hoe also have a couple small bedrooms, small kitchen, etc. Both are located right in the middle of town, less than 5 minutes from the trails. I think Keeweenaw...

Watersmeet doesn't have much going on in the way of mountain bike trails. There's an effort underway to make some biking connections but mostly on two track. They also are incorporating what's call the Agonikak Trail that heads south from the Visitor's Center in Watersmeet but I honestly couldn't tell you the type or condition of the trail but might be worth checking out. Here's the website for...

From what I understand, the Start will be in downtown Kalkaska and will have a 1-1.5 mile paved ride to the trails. This will allow for some "stringing-out" before you actually go off-road. Other than that, prepare for sand, and bring the right tires.
