Questions for Repack Rider

Found this cool video of the Repack Road: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bQF1L1Ju7M RR - few questions - did you guys run into much uphill traffic? dirt bikes, jeeps etc. while bombing down this road? Can you tell us more about your unique rolling seat post adjustment at the end of the video?

Gloves & Winter riding Advice
Published (2009-11-23 09:29:00)
I am looking for winter gloves. Something that will keep my hands warm, but not sweaty and uncomfortable. I do not ride in snow and rain - but will in windy conditions. I figure they'll be used in conditions that will be as low as the 25 into the 40's. I do though want to try to get a snow ride in - it just looks fun. I do not want to break the bank on a set (I tend to lose gloves before they have a chance to wear out). I am not a...

haha! 2x5 Quote: Roadie components weigh considerably less and because the cassette is all ratios close to each other shifting is a lot smoother. Have you never ridden or seen a road bike before? i own a 105 10spd road bike. rear shifting is incredibly marginally smoother, front shifting is significantly worse because of the huge spread.. even worse with a compact. with decent gear ive never had any problems shifting a wide range mountain...

jazzing up the fs
Published (2009-11-19 19:59:00)
Not sure a $5 bottle cage is 'jazzing up', but if it works for you, okay. I was handed decal sheets from something at work, a bunch of Cartoon-Network-looking little stuff; some of it was actually pretty cool, so I put some subtle stuff on the bike. Planning on red chainring bolts over the winter, after getting new rings for my now-disabled Evolve-X crankset.

Effect of seat tube length on...
Published (2009-11-19 11:06:00)
It has no effect on fit. If you set the bike up with the same saddle height as you currently have, then a longer seat tube simply means more of the seatpost will be inside the frame and a shorter seat tube means less of the seatpost will inside the frame. Sometimes a really short seat tube will require a longer seatpost for people with long legs, and sometimes a tall seat tube gets in the way of dropping the saddle really far down or...

Personally, I normally carry a Garmin Legend Cx or 60Cx in my pack, and the iPhone (3G) GPS is terrible by comparison, so I haven't bothered with those type of aps. It works just OK with the Google maps app.
Music is the best thing to do with the iTouch, but I do find it annoying that you can't use the touch-screen with full-fingered gloves.

Is the problem not having enough room to put the bottle in and remove it? If so, a side entry cage may work like this ( Jenson).

What these designations (xc-trail-AM) all have in common is that they all generally involve riding up rather than ...
