I was just re-reading this and missed the part you wrote about the left leg. NateHawk is correct for all of the right reasons -- that's my preference, too -- but just to clarify two points: Left leg or right leg doesn't matter. But you obviously have to avoid the disc rotor if you're equipped, so right leg is my preference. If you mount it too high up the fork leg, so that the magnet is moved closer to the rim, you may find that...

Unfortunately, there is a lot of money difference between the two as well. I can take an extra couple of ounces instead of paying a couple of hundred extra dollars. Rechargable AA batteries are still available at electronic stores too Quote: Originally Posted by NateHawk Garmin says 15hrs https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?...10885#specsTab And shortened battery life is the price you pay for a slimmed receiver with a rechargeable battery....

Mount it forward and make sure the magnet lines up with the horizontal line molded in to the lower part of the body. The sensor is more sensitive receiving from this side, and not the curved side.
The transmitter transmits strongest straight up. On the front of the fork, it's got a straight shot to the computer, although if this is one of their Digital DS series computers, it won't matter ...

Spin your front wheel. Anything on the screen? Adjust your wheel magnet. If you can't get any response from the head unit, take the magnet off and wave it past the sensor. If you still get nothing, try another magnet. If you still get nothing, then something is probably wrong with the computer and/or sensor.
If it's a wireless computer, replace the battery in the sensor.

update. went out and rode on a walking path with rough distances. I think the AT function circumference was set at 208 still, I went 1.5mi according to path and 1.9 according to my computer. the path is wide and arced, but no corners. I then put in 180, rode the path .9mi and my computer said .87mi. i put in 183 when I got home(started raining) so I will try again another day, but I am close...

you're a new adopter...I don't think many others here have that GPS yet. The other Garmin cycling computers don't have a bike weight option. I would guess it is a calorie computation feature. As for wheel circumference, I've always gone the manual route with any computer I've used. The auto route makes a lot of assumptions about tire size and pressure. Manual calibration removes those ...

What PC software? Most have a "send to GPS" menu choice, all four that I use do at least - TopoFusion, Garmin Training Center, SportTracks, Mapsource.

5 hour for the Zumo vs 15 for the Edge.
Size is 5.3"x3.3"x.9", 9.5oz vs 2x4.3x1, 3.7oz.
I guess I should have mentioned I wasn't going to strap it to my bars of my mountain bike, but take it in the camelbak.
But your size concerns are a good one. I wouldn't want to strap the Zumo to my bars.
