Post mount revisited

Didn't you hear, there's a recession on! Seriously, a cheaper tool with some simple adapters/spacers would be fine. It's not rocket science to shim things out/in for PM stuff anyway. -Walt

This question is pretty specifically addressed there.
If you have experience welding thin wall steel, this is a very easy job. If you don't, you will just destroy your frame. It's that simple.
I would recommend not using the rack mount to attach the disc caliper. Get a tab from Paragon and modify it as needed. Put a seat/chainstay brace on there as well.

That was a real nice frame.........all I can say that you can always try to repair it but I think it's toast and is time to hang it on the wall........RIP

due to the symmetry of the cracks, I suspect the dropouts were spread after building. Or some significant event happened to that frame that doesn't have much to do with build quality. I wouldn't hesitate to fix that assuming that is all that is wrong with the frame. I doubt this would effect the strength of the frame at all.
You just have to remove enough paint to fix the braze and whatever...

This isn't really pertaining to frames but figured a few of you have experience and general knowledge of Titanium and this seems like the best forum for this.
I have quite a few Ti bolts on my bike and was playing around with some old stripped out bolts and my torch, I noticed the Ti starts to turn colors when heated.
My question is this, will holding the heads of the bolts under the ...

The reason the tube crushed that way is because there is no support inside the tube. you are trying to stretch the skin on the outside of the bend whilst shrinking the skin on the inside of the bend all at the same time, something quite literally has to give
In the absence of a tube bender or a mandrel, filling the tube with sand is an excellent way of doing this. we have a cnc tube ...

A good friend of mine built one also for his fiancee, he wrote up a website telling about how he constructed it. He told me about all of his resources but that was the extent of his help. I learned how to build my own jig, designed my own frame to my measurements and learned how to cure bamboo correctly. In my opinion, this is not a project for someone to just jump into. I have a background of ...

Sure! If you have the proper equipment and know what you're doing. It's a safe bet that if you're asking that question, the real answer is "no."
Search Google to find this information - this is not a good place for that discussion (...

I will assume that you are talking about frames constructed of steel . One
of the goals while constructing a frame is to keep the heat used in the
heat affected zones at reasonable levels . It is possible to heat an area
to levels that negativley effect the base materials , reducing its strength
or even ruining it . If welded properly these effects are minimal and do
not negativley affect the ...

First things first. You need to measure chainline properly. see: http://www.pvdwiki.com/index.php?tit... el_Dimentions
You could space out the crank if you have the room. Then use an e-type or DM FD. It depends on what you screwed up and how much.

I am putting together my own frame jig out of 80/20. I have everything and
I am almost finished with it. The only thing I need is a good sourced for
some dummy axles. I am doing wet layup frame building. Since there's no
heat involved there is no distortion or sucking in, thus the Anvil axles
won't work well. Anyone have a source for phased dummy axles that are
spaced exactly 130, 135, etc. Any ...
