Glad to show you around, Nick. I always like riding the Gap and I was just as timid as you a mere 2 or 3 years ago. Just keep riding and it will get easier quickly. Russian Ridge has some trails you'll like as well: Ancient Oaks, Hawk and Ridge trail to the far North of the park. - J.L.

$500 could also buy you 3 track days with an instructor. Invest the money in yourself to become a better driver. (not implying that you're a bad one) A little training and practice pays huge dividends.
Why increase the limits of your car if you don't have the skills (or environment) to explore them safely?

Great fun, it kicked my ass. I highly recommend it. A hard tail MTB would work pretty well. It may not be as muddy as the event I did....

Please excuse the horrible photography...I just realized that I'm taking too many pics of trails, which never accurately portray said trails, and not enough pics of the good stuff, the scenery. Nevermind the fact that I'm down to only my cell phone for a camera...equipment attrition and an economic depression conspire against me. (Does anybody need a landscape design? No? I didn't think so.)...
