Ghetto tubeless questions

I have never done a tubeless set-up, but I've been reading up in preparation for the 29er build I'm doing.... so I apologize for being dumb. Are you ghetto tubeless guys cutting the excess tube (the overlap that will(?) hang out of the bead area of the tire) after you inflate, or are you trimming it down before tire installation?

Drop on the luchbox at Wilton Woods in Ct.
The same drop but from the top. My a$$ hit the seat pretty hard. Should have dropped it more.

I seem to recall this being mentioned in a thread in the past several week. The answer was not 2010 but maybe later. For better information you might try the Sette board - the mod and founder there has access to some inside info that seems pretty reliable.

I agree, based on the CF 26ers they have a CF 29er would be quite welcome.

5'10" and I test rode both M and L Fisher 29'ers this year.
Every other bike I have ever owned has been a Mediu M (17-18") frame, my 2 current bikes are both Mediums (a Monocog and a One 9).
The Fishers felt small, the M (17.5") felt tiny and I felt more comfortable on the L (19") frame. I've never felt comfortable on a L frame by anyone else, maybe it was the G2 angles?

It's that time of the year again, just fitted a THE DH fork mounted fender on my Reba, protection is great but it touches the tire on bigger hits.
Other than trying to bend the metal bracket, do you think i could get the same coverage with one of the dt mounted crud catchers and one of those mucky nutz bender fenders?

I took the plunge on a 21" (XL) 2010 Motobecane Fly Ti 29er. The UPS truck dropped it off yesterday and I spent a good part of the night putting it together, and swapping out some parts.
I installed a carbon riser bar in place of the narrow flat bar that came installed, replaced the foam grips with bolt on Yetis, replaced the Vuelta wheels with Stans Flow and I'm running them ...

I had an Endless cog. It was fine. Like Fo said, anything with a wide base

Hey Guys,
After 3 months of waiting, it's finally here!! Got a call from my lbs Friday letting me know that my Med '10 Specialized Epic Comp 29er was in. I couldn't pick it up till Sunday but it's now resting nicely in my garage. During my wait, I did however collect a few parts to upgrade the bike once it arrived.

I have been looking at getting a 29er. I like steel and I am on a budget.
So, I was looking at the likes of a KM and El Mariachi. The El Mariachi
seems to be a better build and is a 1x9 vs SS for the complete KM. Now
considering SoCal is a lot of climbing and I am way out of shape. Would a
1x9 be any use? I can't even climb in the granny on my old RockHopper. My
main bike is a Surly CrossCheck ...
