Bontrager "Duster" rims
Published (2009-11-07 00:41:00)
I agree since there is no 29er version of the 819. However, the 819 is a stronger rim and much more user-friendly (though heavier). I wish Mavic would make a 29er 819, though I'd be fine with a sealed or non-sealed spoke bed since it would make the rim lighter. That rim is fantastic. However, I simply use the Flows for my 29er when I want a trail rim. The Dusters suffer from availability issues all too often and in the 26er version, the...

Skip the Bonty and get an actual DT 240 hub with a nice (but not TLR) Mavic rim for less than the price of the flippin hub here !

Why do you aim for rocks, instead of going around them? Seems ghey to take the roughest crappiest, thrash your equipment the most, line? You need to spend way more time on a 29'er rigid.

The difference between axle-to-crown on an 80mm travel vs. 100mm travel fork (assuming both are the same manufacturer) is, obviously 20mm, or 0.78". 1", or 25.4mm generally will alter angles (head and seat tube angles) by 1 degree, so this is just under 1 degree. Once you take into account sag, you're looking at 56mm vs. 70mm (30% sag), or a difference of 14mm (.55"). This turns into a ...

what other bike(s) are you coming from?
I'm 5.9 and I find that 23.50 to 24.00 ish the TT sweet spot for me on XC bikes.
But my trail bike has a much smaller 23.70 TT.

I've had a King headset on my XC bike for over 11 years now, and it's fine. I have one on my Brooklyn with a 130 mm fork and it's alright too. I ran one on my BMX bike a few years ago, and it drove me crazy. The top of it wouldn't stop moving. At some point I'll modify the two King headsets that are still on my bikes to take an FSA compression ring. Future bikes will get a 110.

For any mountain bike application....especially technical singletrack....look at the small size of the grips we offer, regardless of hand size. The 'small' refers to the thickness of the grip...not the length or wing size. This will offer more hand wrap...and also allow faster hand changes. The small size is offered in the GP1, GC2, GR2, GC3, GE1, and GA1. The GX line of grips only comes in...
