How to make your m/c disappear

MDGeorge said... The thing I am trying to figure out now is when the sun is in the cager's eyes. They can be looking right at you and not be able to see you because of the sun. Short of wearing a clown suit and flipping a whirlygig, what can you do? Old thread I know. Probably going to get flamed for this but I'll manage. :) I live in Phoenix, it is very bright and regions of it can be very flat, allowing lots, and lots of sunlight...

I recently found in a BMW technical journal on the current ABS system, that the cycle rate of the ABS is indeed eight cycles per second. That makes sense given the much lower mass of motocycle wheel assemblies compared to the wheel assemblies of cars or trucks. So the Bosch ABS systems can now cycle the brakes on and off, for each wheel, individually, up to as many times as eight times per second.

Time has changed from the start of the old post, but sensible I will agree as it does put our "thinkers" to work & possibly some changes. Like my '90 2500cc 4X4 Truck went into the electrnic board failed, yet the rare person as a passenger, obviously on the passengr side to the right/front did not muck up the electronical board, but in the hard way I found out only a few were produced & getting a good used of...

Looks good, Andy. Feels a bit "stuffy and mature," though--I mean, it would appeal to me, but that's preaching to the choir. How many squids are ya gonna convert? I didn't see one pic of a wheelie or burnout on the whole site!

Hi Tractorwheel, I have a Fieldsheer mesh jacket that I bought recently from compacc.com - in fact, they had a really good sale a while back, and I bought two - bright yellow for commuting/riding at night, and a black one for when I don't want to look like a highway worker walking into a coffee shop or store. It ventilates very well, and is well constructed. The shoulder and elbow protection is good, but the spine protector was...

I was North bound on I-15 today 4:20 pm, 1/8 mile south of exit 303 when a Nissan Ulitma suddenly started spinning out of control broad siding the car next to him two cars in front of me. Next there were cars skidding around and pointing in the wrong direction. Dodged through the cars and followed the car that was hit on the passenger side to the side of the freeway. The Nissan was dodging a ...

As long as the jacket features CE approved body armor, you'd be getting the protection needed. Look for a jacket made with heavy duty stitching, preferably double row stitching in critical areas. Also, try the jacket on when sitting on your bike to make sure the hard armour pads/pucks are in the right place for your riding position. And the jacket should have a back protector also. I have an ...

So now, the meat of the message, what your ABS equipped bike CAN'T do: Can certain conditions make ABS a killer instead of a life saver? ABS only works with the bike straight up or with VERY limited lean. If you think you can apply the brakes in a lean like you can straight up and think the ABS will save you, IT CAN'T. ABS systems have no "lean angle sensors" to work with the ABS and ...

Great tip. Glad you discovered it this way as opposed to a more violent way. One thing that keeps going through my head when I am ridding is... "can they see me?" The thing I am trying to figure out now is when the sun is in the cager's eyes. They can be looking right at you and not be able to see you because of the sun. I'm going out on a limb here, based solely on what you have written, because some of it isn't jiving. Now, I have never taught a Rider's Edge course, but the format is the same as the MSF BRC, endorsed by the MSF, and ridden on Buell Blasts: 1. You mention her bike, but for the Rider's Edge class all riding is done on a Buell Blast. 2. Exercises before the skills test would be exercise 17, ...

Yeah, they have those same slurry trucks around here, (you know, deep in your heart, that the dairy cows out here produce finer cheese than over there, go ahead and admit it ), but that "s**t" and I mean "s**t" is damned slippery. Uber caution with an expectation of possible traction loss is the name of the game, as you say. Nice save; while you might not have been injured as you imply ...

Can't recall ever seeing a public service announcement promoting motorcycle awareness to drivers here in California. Ridiculous omission.
