1978 CB750F Fuel Tank Question
Published (2009-12-14 06:25:00)
i'll never forget an ols schoolfriend's dad (sadly no longer with us) - he was an accomplished mechanic with a well equipped garage, one inspiration to me in my early spanner monkey days... he was attempting to plate up a truck diesel tank, drained it off and put foam in the tank to try to stop it exploding. it didn't work. it blew up on him and hhe got hospitalised. i remember his face was burnt and hard like a pie crust. i...

The funny thing about used bikes, only you can determine if the price is right. What is a fair price for one person is not for another. Just like the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the value is likewise. Depending on which fairing the bike has, you may find you need a light can and turn signals to install when you remove the fairing. My fairing has an integral headlight and turn signals. If I were to take the fairing off, I would need a...

I know where there is a cb100 in a parts yard in SW Ohio. You would have to remove it yourself.

Prices are starting to jump on vintage CB's, particularly the 750's. That's not out of line if it's in good shape.

as far as I've seen in my area, most of the " in good condition " cb750's in different models were around the 1k mark pricewise. i paid 1k for my '81 cb750F and it's in great condition so I feel I got lucky. sadly, I bought this bike right before thanksgiving so the weather sucked, but I did get to ride it for a tiny bit before putting her away for the winter.

I cannot answer your question, however in the past I have used this trick.
Search through eBay for the tank in question (even old auctions) and more
often than not you can find some very detailed pics (underside) or you can
even contact the seller for additional pics. Thats how I fit my latest
tank onto my cafe project, sight unseen.

My dad has owned 2 and rode them basically for 15 years. He liked them a lot. Whenever you can find spare switches and what not from a recycler get them. I think he only had some problems once with the throttle cable, starter/turn signal switch and rectifier along with the usual maintenance during the whole time he owned either one. A spare rectifier is a good item to have as well. Thats ...
