Pirate's Booty

Do I have the only child who doesn't love this stuff? I bought it for him to take to school for one of his snacks. I gave him 1 to try today, and he spit it out. That's usually his response to new foods, so I tried 2 more times, and he just crushed them in his fingers. Not all is lost though, this means more for me.

When will she tell me when she...

Oh, and since she tells you when she pees in undies, use that to figure out when she actually pees. Either track it for a few days and use that to create timing, or just offer at a regular interval until you've got an idea of her timing. Even if she doesn't go, having that break to stop and consider how her body's feeling should help her learn what sensations mean she has to use the potty. Especially since you've got busy...

Wooden kitchen for very tall...

I have a kaplan and it is very tall. DS had to use a step stool to reach the upper shelf for a while. They are a little more pricy though, b/c they are heavy duty daycare grade. Not as "pretty" as the waldorfy ones, but for $30 off of craigslist ($500 retail) I'm not complaining! They have cheaper, ones, of course! http://www.kaplanco.com/kitchen-play-set.asp

At 12 months we used Oral B toddler toothpaste which is flouride free and just a toddler toothbrush. Now we use Tom's Mint flouride free toothpaste.

Another Potty question...
Published (2009-11-09 08:11:00)
Ok, we are going to start potty training with DD. I have started taking her to potty when I know she is pooping. The first time she didn't like it since I don't have a seat for her yet. I was holding her but she was a little scared so I took her off. I am looking at Wal-Mart to buy her potty/seat since we got some gift cards from her shower (yes a shower at 18 months old, late I know, anywho). I am not sure about the Froggy one...

The Pottery Barn Retro Kitchen is definitely taller than most of the standard play kitchens. Its pricey but oh, so fantastic!

the mysterious nature of toddler...
Published (2009-11-09 12:26:00)
I was losing socks too, then they magically reappeared. I have a Whirlpool Duet front loading washer and the rubber gasket on the door is the perfect trap for socks. This also solved the mystery of why my washer was smelling even though I left the door open all the time.

Feb 08 Mommas! November!
Published (2009-11-09 22:46:00)
I haven't been posting but have been peeking on threads Toby is now sleeping in an adult twin size bed. His crib got recalled and we didn't want to buy a new one, so we ended up putting a twin mattress on the floor for about a month and then we switched to the bed over night. The bed is short enough that he can crawl in on his own. I know he sleeps in it at night but during naps he falls asleep on the floor. The first couple of...

My first also had a pacifier. They got lost one by one and I didn't replace them. She was nearly 3, but I started by restricting them to bed time. Then stopped offering and let her ask. She wasn't as attached to it as some kids, so it was really pretty easy for us.
How old is your little guy? As long as he's not using it alot during the day, I wouldn't worry too much about his teeth. And ...

I have a spirited two year old, so I can relate. What saved me were two different approaches, re-framing his so-called challenging traits, and re-organizing the environment.
One of the things you can do is try to re-frame his behaviours in positive terms and it helps to feel more positively towards him. Some of these awful 'toddler' behaviours are actually pretty admired in the 'real' ...

HA! My 14 month old LOVES to eat tissue. For a long time I thought she was actually eating it, but really she just puts some in her mouth and chews on it like gum...which makes me feel a bit better. They are silly little things aren't they?

L was a pink bunny. I had a Dumbo costume but he wanted to wear the old pink bunny costume so we let him. I took a few photos to show him when he is 13. I want to upload photos but I can tell I am not going to be given a peaceful moment today. Grrrr.

It's a tough call. My DD went through a "pushing' stage (though not in the way you described...very randomly, not to get anything), and it was very hard and awkward for me to deal with. I felt like I was the mother of "that" child. I'm not sure saying anything to the mom would have changed anything-but maybe it would make you feel better? Having said that, it sounds like the mom know her daughter...

Hi there,
We are also worried about lacking Vit D & getting sick...I am 27 weeks preg & am going to have my Vit D level checked tmrw to see what I should be adding into my routine. I am still nursing but I think my milk stopped around 24 weeks of the pregnancy. DD is 25 mos & I just started her on a gummy bear vit d I found at Whole Foods. I never did the drops they suggested at the Ped when...

I hovered over your post & saw Caillou mentioned & almost fell off my seat...
DD LOVES Caillou...absolutely LOVES Caillou. We can't remember how she even saw the show originally but holy cow-she adores it? We have watched MANY episodes & while someone mentioned to me they thought he was a brat, whines etc. I kind of feel like he does the normal things a 4 yr old would do & that his ...

I clean out the toys every fall anticipating the flux of Christmas & Birthday toys. Perhaps you can look through something like the Toys R Us big toy book together & find something he would like?
Honestly, at this age, they're pretty easy to please. MY DS is obsessed with trucks & cars, so everything we look at together, he's pointing out the trucks. I ask him simple questions like, "...

I know that it is a possibility that this is in the range of normal 2-year-old behavior. However, I would consider having him evaluated. My ds acted rather like this and when he was 4 we found out that he has Aspergers Syndrome. You might try lurking in the special needs forum a little and see if anything sounds like your ds?
My guess is that at least some of his behavior are filling some ...

DD is 18 months old. She is not walking on her own but can pull herself up, walks if she is holding on to us or something else. At her doc visit we were told her muscle tone is fine. The doc suggested we take her to an orthopedic pediatrician. She said just to have him examine her although she doesn't think anything is wrong. I told her that most of my siblings including a niece didn't ...

Subbing to read responses since the accurancy of my therm is questionable.

Struggle. That's about it. I've seen people with DD's with straight fine hair just cut it until baby is older and will tolerate hairdos. DD's hair is curly-curly, so it tends to stay up and out of the eyes. DH will endeavor to put her hair in pigtails, but it's a struggle and there's lots of tears and screaming involved, so I just let her go. She does try to pull them out. I figure she's too ...

I'm going to sub & come back for a real update later.
I'm still in Major Adjustment Mode after our last family member joined us 22 days ago. Trying hard not to feel completely overwhelmed. Sometimes I succeed & sometimes I don't.
I'd love to hear some updates from my lovely old Dec07 ddc buddies!! Thanks so much for the thread SheBear!

Dude, I wonder this all the time
I go on sock buying binges, and each time I promise myself that I will keep all of them in check, and BAM! They are gone, all of them.
Sometimes DD wears socks 2 days in a row until we buy new ones. Thank goodness for dollar store packs!
