Anyone managing to exercise?
Published (2009-12-04 08:23:00)
No exercising but I have cut back on how much I eat each day. DH just purchased a family membership at the local YMCA but I have yet to go the first time. There's just not enough time in the day and I don't want to do anything else to exhaust me even more.

I dunno that you're necessarily doing anything wrong. He may just be in a stage where everything is just SO *fascinating* that he can't stand to close his eyes. When my little guy is obviously tired but refusing to sleep, I lay down in a dim room, lay him on his side facing me so all he can see is me, and try to feed him to sleep. If that's obviously not working, I can stroke his forehead gently, from the hairline to the eyebrow...

Anyone managing to exercise?
Published (2009-12-04 05:58:00)
I go to the gym at 6am three mornings a week. I'm still trying to perfect the morning schedule, though, because I have to pump before I leave and the amount of time it takes varies. I also have practice with my marathon team twice a week, but it's outside. Kids are welcome at practice, but it's so cold!! I also have a Y membership which has childcare. I won't take the baby, and my 2 year old can't go sometimes (immune...

I think you should just go with it. I like cristeen's suggestions as well. I do my own versions of the face stroking when i am trying to get Sam to sleep, it seems to work. Also I hold his hand and that has put him to sleep the past 3 nights, works well when he's thinking of waking too, it seems to settle him back down, shows him I am there. I *totally* get your worry. I was completly worried about the sleep thing last week, and not...

(((Hugs))) My 5 yo had surgery a couple of months ago and the anticipation was the worst part. I hope that this turns out to be the case for you and that the tumors are removed and all is well.

any good tricks for the bottle???
Published (2009-12-01 13:08:00)
men. i wouldn't have any women try. babies are smart little buggers and they can detect milk on a mama even after she's weaned her last baby. other than that, try every bottle out there. fun, huh? i see so many people have trouble because of starting bottles too late w/dd #2, ds, and camry, i started at 2 weeks and haven't had any trouble getting them to go from boob to bottle to binky. i'm so sorry you're hitting a...

Nak Not sure where you're located but I'm in MN which can be pretty much as cold as it gets. I have a gym membership that has childcare available. I don't feel comfortable enough to leave the 9 week old there but I take the 5 year old and then dp only has to watch the baby. Even so, I've only managed to get there 1-2x per week. I wish I could get there more often, but life keeps getting in the way. I feel so flabby and...

You shouldn't be giving her a bottle at all. Make daddy give it. If you're holding her against your chest, why on earth would she want a plastic nipple when the real things are *right there*? Hand daddy the baby and the bottle and walk away so she can't see you. He'll probably have a bit more luck that way.
Oh, and mine's been almost exclusively on a bottle for 6 weeks now... still won't ...

Will he tolerate a swaddle? My little guy was like this early on until I learned to swaddle him. Do you co-sleep? That can also help, my guy thrashes less when I have an arm wrapped around him and have him held to my side than when I'm 6 inches away. We gave up on the bassinet weeks ago because he'd only sleep 30 minutes in it.
Will he sleep in the car seat?
And as silly as it ...

I just have to update and say he finally went to sleep, again, after Midnight. Up at 6:30, awake at 7:30. His morning clock is amazing. So... now we're awake and playing and he's had, again, 7hrs of sleep. And no matter how much my mother says, "well, if he's happy, then he must not need anything"... just doesn't seem OK with me. I feel like I'm doing something wrong?!?

Mila has folds on her neck, too. I clean it with extra soft wet cloth, and she wears a bib all day long. That really helps - I change several bibs a day.
I'm thinking of getting those bibs that have soft neckline all around. Something like these: http://www.ecokitchen.com/shop/bibs.html
She even sleeps with a bib and it helps with small spit up during night feeding.

no suggestions here - I'd love to hear as well. We're at almost 12 weeks and the same thing.... my neice started teething at 3months so my sister is telling me that's what lil man's symptoms are. Drooling, hand in mouth, grabbing his ears (I didn't know that was a symptom? he can't grab a toy, but he's picking at his ears... weird). Seems awfully early??!?

Amiel is 9 weeks also and he has pretty much been nursing every hour as well until very recently he has started to go 1.5 hours and 2 hours more often with some days still every hour. i don't have much advice i guess i'm just piping in and curious what others will say. the way i see it though is this, they aren't going to nurse forever and i have heard some mamas just don't produce as much ...

I'd pump both sides.
And she may not have wanted it right then, she may not have liked the temp, she may not have liked the way he was holding her or the bottle, any number of things could be the reason she refused the bottle the first time. I know my little guy who only gets the bottle has times when he's clearly hungry and yet refusing to eat.

This always gets me, too. Or someone will say, "I stayed up till 2 watching movies. I'm SO tired today!" When I have a nb, I go to bed as soon as I get the other kids in bed- definately by 8:30. I just can't handle the sleep deprivation and it's bad enough going to bed early and still getting up several times a night.
I also get peeved by comments made by people with just one or 2 kids ...
