In the fridge it will last for ages. It may recrystallize on you though. I have a jar of it in the fridge from the same thing, and it crystallized. I used it on pancakes/waffles/french toast, to sweeten coffee, or you can even use it in place of honey in many baking recipes.

We love this Cranberry drink we make in the crockpot. 1 can pineapple juice 1 (48 oz) bottle cranberry juice 1 gallon apple juice or cider 1c cinnamon red hots Put everything in the crockpot. Stir occassionally so the red hots don't just stick to the bottom. . .delicious!!

Glass Storage Question
Published (2009-12-16 19:42:00)
I use glass that I bought from Pampered Chef. It's tempered glass. It's one of the first things I bought when I became a Pampered Chef consultant. I love how they come with lids and also have measurement marks. I haven't heard anything about lead in PC glass products.

Absolutely worth it in every respect. However, I will say that the taste factor is a bit of an issue for some. I recommend the Cinnamon Tingle flavor CLO and we like the Raspberry butter oil. GP's stuff is fantastic quality.

Stock/Broth?
Published (2009-12-18 04:58:00)
I would pick as much of the meat off of the bones as you possibly can. Then I would brown the bones in the oven. A couple of hours in a low oven. Browning the bones helps the flavor and also gives the stock a deeper color. I do my stock on the stove top, so I can be more exact with the heat. I use very chunky mirepoix - celery, onions, carrots along with a bay leaf, some peppercorns and salt then simmer (DO NOT BOIL) at a low temp for several...

Help me find this cookie recipe?
Published (2009-12-18 19:57:00)
Years ago I got this recipe in a magazine and I've made it a few times, but not in a long while and now I can't find the recipe. It has cranberries in it and the cookies are rolled up like little croissants. It's not a pinwheel type cookie though, it's almost similar to a rugala. I seem to remember that the dough part contained cottage cheese as an ingredient (?) I know this is a long shot, but if anyone can help I'd...

Nothing Seriously. We were the kids who had bran chex, whole wheat bread, no snacks or desserts in the house if it wasn't a special occasion, loads of veggies. A glass of soda when out to dinner was a HUGE treat, and of course, you only got one (NO refills), so you drank it SLOWLY. Once (literally), my Dad somehow got put in charge of grocery shopping and he bought white (?!) bread and cinnamon toast crunch. It was like Christmas ETA: Of...

If it was a plastic baggy, personally, I would toss it. Maybe others will reasure you otherwise but I always err on the side of caution for food issues.

I have to make this quick but it sounds like you have a fantastic beef source so stick with that. Animal products in general are really important to get organic if at all possible as well as any food that's heavily treated (like peanuts--definitely stick with organic peanut butter).
Ultimately you can likely save money by just knowing a lot about where your food is from rather than focusing ...

-un refined sugars: They're great for helping wean off sugar, as they have their natural minerals so their sugars aren't quite as bad for you and don't affect many people as strongly, they aren't as sweet so your taste buds wean off the sweet taste. ex: honey, molasses, maple syrup
-nuts: once you stop eating refined sugar, you will notice that nuts have a nice sweet taste. They also have ...

My favourite side with ham is scalloped potatoes...basically just layered potatoes (thinly sliced), finely diced onions, white sauce, repeat. Then, sprinkle grated cheddar over the top, and bake.

We make buckwheat waffles/pancakes a lot.
Millet flour I don't use that much, because it's grittier than a lot, so I use it where cornmeal would have been used (millet muffins), but you could use it for breading on chicken and things like that, along with another flour.
I've never used teff flour.
I use sorghum, light buckwheat, sweet potato starch and tapioca starch the most.

Spotted Dick - enlighten me please
DH and I were grocery shopping the other night and stumbled across a can of Spotted Dick. Of course, us being an juvenile as we are, were rolling on the floor and it has been the subject of jokes since.
From the can, I gather it is some sort of cake in a can?...

In the past our main dish has been a turkey or ham. However the last few years we've been enjoying beef tenderloin, slow roasted on the rotisserie . Sides include yorkshire pudding and a green salad or veggie. My Mom also makes special rolls that are sweet and frosted green and have cinnamon hots on them, picture christmas tree looking rolls. My Dad's birthday is the 24th so he always like pecan ...

Yes you can!! I would suggest that after it is made and set that you slice the pieces as you would like and then place them on parchment paper in the freezer to get frozen. Then transfer them into a storage container. This way the pieces dont freeze to each other. Plus it makes eating 1 or 2 pieces a lot easier. To "thaw" I usually take out of the freezer and place in the fridge it normally ...

When we went on long trips (car or airplane), my mom would always buy a few packs of gum, some of it even *gasp* gum with sugar. It was a huge treat. One of our favorites was that gum that comes in huge cubes--Bubbalicious? Hubba-Bubba? Anyway, they made a chocolate mint gum that was SO delicious. I guess my family members were the only ones who thought so; I haven't seen it in years.

fish really should be bought the day you use it. however, they may not be getting fresh fish in on christmas day so it might be just as fresh either way, so you can ask. Personally I would never buy fresh fish if it didn't come in the day I'll serve it. Frozen of course i would buy and keep frozen until I'm going to use it, allowing only enough time for it to thaw. (The only fish I regularly ...

cranberry, black cherry or pomegranite juice and club soda. my grandma used to make a punch with lime sherbert and sprite that was very tasty but not very healthy.
I just bought a vanilla sugar martini rimmer and will use it for the kids and adult cocktails over the holidays...ice cubes also enhance the experience.

Is it going to be the main dish? Or just a meat based side dish? My favorite meat side dish is wrapped asparagus.
Saute asparagus until it starts to brown. Wrap 3-4 pieces of asparagus in your favorite lunch meat (chicken, ham, and turkey all work well). Lay them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Bake for 5-10 minutes.

How about jarred soup mixes? Kind of like the cookie mixes in a jar. You layer all the ingredients for soup in a canning jar with the label saying what it needs (how much water or meat to add) and how long to cook it. They look pretty and are very convenient after a busy day.
