Ohhh I hate when we get to family's house and they are all grabby and in Liam's face.... Luckily he is pretty ok with it now, he loves the attention. But when he was younger he would just scream from all of the overstimulation. Could you sit in the car and nurse him for a few minutes before you go into your family's house? It will pass, don't worry... I am hoping to not get any 'spoiled' comments tomorrow from my...

Are We Spoiling Her?
Published (2009-11-28 20:17:00)
Nope, not spoiling at all! My son still doesn't tolerate strollers for very long at 4 months, but does a bit better. He also does better with laying on the floor or sitting in other baby contraptions, but overall he still prefers being held. When he was younger he hated being held by people he didn't know and had to have me around.

We've been taking DD to a chiro to work on her latch problems. The chiropractor just uses her fingertips to massage DD's jaw and cervical spine. Very light pressure, but baby has a big response. Sometimes DD HATES it but latches on really well after, sometimes she tolerates it and latches on really well after. It's usually over in about 15 minutes.

Whoops, it seems most of my responses were deleted because they contained that forbidden info. No criticism, I'm just trying to remember what else I said, lol! I can't wait for that new feature! We can have our own group again and not one long thread. Yay!!! We do breakfast and dinner and usually some snacking depending on the day. DD still doesn't eat a ton. It's all finger foods bc she refuses everything off of a spoon and she is really really picky about what she will eat..though she is getting a bit better and perhaps more interested in eating. She did try everything I gave her on thanksgiving and ate sweet potato and mashed potato off my fork...I was impressed. Mostly I was...

We follow a BLW approach so the kiddos start out with whatever the rest of the family is having, minus any major allergens (the top 8 plus honey). DD1 has celiac so we follow a gluten free diet, and we don't eat red meat/pork/fish, but other than that they can explore whatever is on the table. Some cultures have meat as a first food, and the LLL actually suggests this as well. They (the LLL website) have a nicely written article about...

We nurse quite a bit still. Sometimes during the day we don't nurse as much as we probably should - because we end up making up for it at night! It's just sometimes we are busy during the day. But I would say it's about every 3 hours. We've never been on a schedule. I worry when he doesn't nurse as much as he should during the day, because we do blw and he doesn't ever seem to eat very much. So I want to make sure...

You could also try some sort of activity gym/mobile that hangs above her. We get a lot of mileage out of annoying singing things, too. (RARE around here...we don't even usually watch TV). Anyway, if she rolls, and the toys are attached above her, she looses them. If it's just something in her hand then she can take it with her... eta: wanted to be clear I wasn't saying to TAKE a toy from a baby for rolling over. I was saying...

my lo was born jan 31, and I previously posted in the Feb thread, but I'll join you over here.
He's crawling- scooting really- all around, and has just started sort of cruising, short distances. he eats everything he can get his hands on. we haven't found a food he doesn't like, including things i wont even eat- olives, blue cheese, beets...
he has just developed this amazingly horrifying habit...

My ds just stopped doing this a month ago. Prior to 3 months though it was just as you said- daily projectile vomit. But then one day right around 3 months he stopped doing it and hasn't done it since. The ped was pretty sure it was a case of pyloric stenosis that he outgrew, but he wasn't worried about it since ds is gaining very well (18+ pounds at 4 months.) Definitely a laundry problem though...

My DS has stinky gas too, but it's usually after I've eaten dairy, eggs, cabbage or broccoli.

We use California Baby body wash/shampoo. I love the smell and it's really great for sensitive skin, and tear-free. I personally don't like the Weleda baby products much, maybe it's the smell, and I don't find them as good for sensitive skin. We use a great diaper salve by a local company called BumBum Balm (from Dimpleskins). It's so good and mild, I sometimes use it as lipbalm if I can't find ...

You can't spoil a 15-week-old baby. Some babies react more strongly to car seats, swings, and bottles than others. If you're happy with your parenting, other people will just have to put up with it.

Best advice: Do Not Engage. Smile sweetly and walk away. "This works for us" if you absolutely have to respond. Repeat over and over. Do Not Engage. They'll drop it.

Hope everyone is well.
We're doing okay here. Had a bit of drama with a local mom's group I'm a part of but otherwise just trucking along as usual.
Laine is starting to chunk up finally and is starting to fit into some 12 month clothing. The last few days all she's wanted to do is nurse and sleep. DS is sick right now so I think her body is at work fighting off whatever virus it is ...

I haver one of the kiddopotamus ones. My son will be 12 weeks on tuesdfay and we just started using it a couple of weeks ago. We never really swaddled him in the beginning. However, my husband tried it one night and he slept in his co-sleeper for almost six hours straight. He had never done that before because he would always wake himself up with his arms within an hour. So, he had only ever ...

In times past a midwife or the person who delivered babies would check the child for things like tongue tie and clip it with a sharp instrument or pinch it free with their fingers.
It in fact is not something that is new but something that has been happening for thousands of years.

Are books separate? What are the other items in the house that might be available as toys?
If the $30 doesn't include books, personally, I'd go with a small doll like a Minimo which can be chewed on, teethed on, and snuggled with, a ball, and a wooden rattle. I would look around the house for materials to make a see through fabric square for playing peek-a-boo, stuffing in and out...

I have 3 dc, ages 4.5, 2.5, and 9 months. I only used tylenol with my second, and only a handful of times when he was really miserable. When he would let me, and with the other two, I give them ice water, rub their gums, nurse lots and lots, hold them lots, massage their jaws, a little bit of hyland's teething tablets, or give them a cool washcloth to chew on or an actual teether.
