we finally broke down and turned on the heat - it still hasn't been checked yet but at least we have some heat. And wouldn't you know it today our co2/smoke alarm decided to die. I have no idea how I'm going to manage to replace it - we really need the CO2 one because of the furnace. Does anyone know if Chase Bank will work with you on overdrafts? I'm about 200 overdrawn {130 of that is fees } and need to get it cleared up...

The textbook publishers run such a racket. I hope that Amazon is able to bully them into the 21st century.

I spent $21.30 at Walgreens today mostly on stocking stuffers for my grown stepsons (I also bought maxi pads for my stepdaughter, but those are NOT stocking stuffers, lol). They had a deal on shaving gel, Right Guard deodorant and toothpaste that if you buy them you get a coupon equal to the amount paid, so I bought one of each for my SSs. I also bought SS19 some tennis balls (he juggles) and SS21 some awesome pens. They are so hard to buy...

Here is a link to the NJ Clean Energy program. If you live in NJ and have an older house, drafty house or older furnace, this is a HUGE opportunity to reduce your energy bills at a very affordable cost. The steps are here: http://njcleanenergy.com/residential...and-incentives 1) reduced cost energy audit 2) FREE air sealing- for leaking houses with no combustion problems found. If your house is older than 15-20 years, it will probably be...

I do think there will be more etextbooks coming soon. My College Algebra class now has an ebook I'm using (and it's cool, b/c it's interactive). I read recently that starting this past Sept. Amazon is doing a trial run with select college students by giving half of them Kindles loaded with their textbooks and comparing their satisfaction to the other half using standard, heavy(!) textbooks. If it goes well they will push more...

Go with your gut. You've got a sensible head on your shoulders, and you guys have a plan. IME, when you have a plan, things just tend to happen. Whether you like it or not, and at least for us, even things like unemployment have turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Only one present here, but that's from santa, and everything else is homemade. So 20-30 depending on what it is, plus all the stocking goodies and whatnots that come with winter holiday time.

Every year I tell myself I am going to shop early and it always fails. I end up buying all my Christmas present last minute. When I buy stuff really early I end up giving the present to the person because I cant wait..Specially my husband. Next year I am determined to buy early because then we would have alot more presents if I did. I think its awesome you shop so early. Great deal on ...

Old Navy was my first stop on Black Friday! They opened the earliest and DD is outgrowing nearly everything she owns right now (age 8 seems to be a MAJOR growth spurt time).... $60 all-weather coat for $15 in purple, which is her fave right now, and a handful of $5 bottoms and tops. She's going to be thrilled! She loves clothes and shoes, including outerwear.

hi,
This month I'm hoping Goes well for everyone. I've applied for a overnight job so I can watch my son during the day. right now my dad watches DS, but I know my Dad really wants to do things during the day. If i get this job I will save a lot a money in gas because I could walk to work.

I think it depends on a lot of factors like the amount your electricity costs, how much do you pay for water, etc....
Honestly, I would marry my new LG Steam washer if I could. I LOVE that thing.

Here are some from Family Fun
and here's a fun idea for making your own calendar
I'm really wanting the lego advent calendar for my boys, but trying to make myself not spend the $60 on it. We usually do the chocolate and cardboard ones that are $1.60 each and will probably do it again this year. I just don't think it gets any cheaper than that!

Hmm, I dont have young kids in the house, but I think I'd keep it the same if we did, and it's about 60 overnight. I grew up with steam heat from radiators, and I think my parents kept it really warm, like 70 at least, all day and night. they never set it back. it was so nice and toasty. we could wear t-shirts in the winter. they were nuts. (the point of that tangent: I'm accustomed to warmer ...

I'd call your power company and try to explain as best you can why you need a little more time before they turn your power out. Same with your landlord and anyone else. Can your grandmother help you with your utilities?

My side of the family is doing a gift exchange - $50 gift, 1 gift per person.
My husband's family is small. For his parents I am thinking a digital photo frame. For BIL/SIL, stuff for their 1mo baby and maybe a GC for a date night of some sort.
I am following the unclutterer blog ( http://unclutterer.com/2009/11/23/20...-small-thin gs/ ) for more ideas.
