Weight gain slowing

IMO EVERY baby should get the benefit of these charts - breastfed or not. Fortunately the 'well baby checks' used by Canadian family docs and pediatricians (Rourke's), which are evidence based, just switched to these charts. As a PP said, babies grow in fits and starts, not curves, so he very well could have 'made up' the weight gain by 4 months. Glad to hear things are going well for you and you aren't as...

I've never used the ThinkBaby trainer, but it looks like a good first sippy cup. With DD#1 I used the Nuby sippy cups, they have a soft silicone top much like the ThinkBaby and she would take those and not the hard plastic kind. Plus they're much cheaper!

6.5 month old is ready to learn to use a cup. I would not get the kind with a no spill spout if your baby has never had a bottle though. I would either have the adult hand feed with a small cup with no top or try the very simple type of spouted lid that snaps onto a plastic tumbler. The reason for that is the no spill (i.e. Playtex brand) type, the baby really has to suck on hard and strictly breast fed babies don't really get this. Also...

If you treated the baby for thrush and not yourself, you could be passing it back and forth. It's best to treat you both at the same time.

I hear ya! I've been doing a lot of research on this lately too. Dr Mercola has an entire section of his website devoted to Vitamin D and Dr Tenpenny has this page with guidelines http://drtenpenny.com/VitaminD_info.aspx . Both docs are supportive of natural approaches to health. Both say to have your vitamin D level checked as well as your baby's. Then you can better know how much to take. ...

Don't know if these would be too big for you, but I love the nursing bras from here, and most are available in other colors:

It might just be too late. I've used the playtex delux with both my girls when they take a bottle and they've gone to it fine, but as suggested by my LC, we started offering one bottle a week at 3-4 weeks which is supposed to be after nipple confusion but before they've developed such a strong bond with the breast that they won't try the bottle.

If she continues to nurse enough to get ~24oz of breastmilk a day then I really wouldn't worry about trying to force the formula down, but I would watch to make sure that she isn't cutting down nursings and further reducing your supply.
I don't think the amount of solids she's having is at all excessive, my kids have been late starters for solids, but my middle child was eating at least ...

I would recommend going to a naturopath to get tested. I feel really strongly that doing elimination diets is unnecessary deprivation that is ultimately fumbling in the dark anyway. I would much rather find out immediately what the specific allergens are than mess around for weeks and weeks subtracting things and then wondering what to add and how long to wait.
Different allergens take longer...

I only have one DD, and have never nursed during pregnancy. Hugs to you.
I know that I can go 8-10 hours sometimes without nursing and still not feel engorged. I can feel a let down most times dd nurses, but sometimes I can hear her gulping and not felt a letdown.

Wish I knew the answer, I was just wondering the same thing yesterday! Maybe I could piggyback on your first question and ask if it is ok in pregnancy as well?

try a neti pot, humidifier, eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender essential oils in a diffuser, cherry bark syrup is good for a cought, but i'm not sure if it's ok while nursing. i've read that sudafed is safe to take while nursing, but it never helps my symptoms, so i don't take it anymore.

No suggestions, but my 3 month old is starting to do the same thing!
My other two weren't like this, so this is new to me.

Answers on this vary widely depending on where you look and how much money the government pours into its " war on drugs".
Most American/north american-based sites and research will tell you it'll cause everything from "schizophrenia" to "death". European websites will be more likely to say simply, "meh, use caution" (which roughly translates to: don't be an idiot about it).
THC does pass ...

If this opportunity means financial security for years to come I would go into debt to bring dh and dd.
My supply dropped a bit just by being away from my son for eight hours a day. I am certainly no expert on how such a long separation would affect your supply but at the very least I would consider asking a lactaiton consultant before agreeing to such a trip.

Would you be open to pumping, and then bottlefeeding your milk? All the women I've known who supplemented with formula lost their supply, although there may be women here who've been succesful doing that too. If you keep pumping, then hopefully baby's latch might improve enough for him to return to the tap later.
Also, keep wearing your babe, even if you're not BFing - great bonding.

Does she look tongue tied to you? I've been told she's fine by LC and ped. but we are still having low supply and transfer issues along with slow weight gain.
I'd like to know if I should look for yet another opinion.....

I just love how the article shows a picture of a mother breastfeeding and then in the foreground a picture of a bottle!
So sad for the mother, she must have been utterly exhausted not to feel her LO against her, DD has always slept right next to me since day 1 and she barely has to sniffle and I am wide awake.

I don't have any real advice as at 13 months I still haven't lost ANY of the baby weight. I also have pcos & that just makes it more of an uphill battle.
Have you increased your activity/exercise at all?
