Well, it seems the service manual for 72 Plymouths, which includes my Cuda, has the complete instructions, guidance, and specifications to tear down, rebuild, or adjust every component on my car, not to mention detailed electrical schematics. I highly recommend everyone try to get one for their car. I lucked out and found one in our local classifieds for $15! Its paid for itself a hundred times over!

Not gaing any hp, just freeing it up, but you cant hook any of that up on the street, so it is a waste, IMO. case in point, I can spin all day long with my 273 powered valiant, I have ridden in big block powered a bodies, and they are the same, it even had all the caltrac stuff, doesnt ever hook on the street, works good on the track though.

Here's a artical I found among others that claim that oil temp has more to do with engine wear at start up than anything else. Making most of our arguments mote. Do a google search ''oil tempature engine wear'' for alot more. I agree, it may be easier to just buy a donor car in good condition and strip it. Running/driving 1978 volares are available and they're pretty cheap.

Dave. do yourself a favor and don't believe the hype when purchasing electric fans. you can do a search and find an OEM fan from the junkyard. They are excellent. As far as I'm concerned, the only non OEM fan that is worth anyting is a spal fan.
lincoln mark VIII fans work well. tons of options. just do your research. you don't have to spend a ton of money.

Gee, my 273 powered a body is a handfull with tire spin, I couldnt imagine a 472. Sounds fun though. You might be able to hook it up with slicks on a well groomed track, but on the street, doubt it, ever.

On an old engine I wouldn't use 5w-30, if the motor was new maybe, I prefer
20w-50 dinosaur for a peformance engine.

The weight, gear ratio and stall speed dictate, that you don't want a lot fo cam with that combo. On the other hand, your CR is pretty healthy, and that makes the low end better even with a bigger cam. Actually, all the C-bodies aren't much heavier than B-bodies, so the actual car and weight also affects the choice. I also assume that you intend to use a hydraulic flat tappet cam. On a heavier ...

The 915 heads propably have 80+cc chamber in reality if they are unmodified. Mopars factory CR ratings were far off, the chambers or the block heights were nowhere near the blueprint numbers. If in doubpt, measure the old heads chambers and have the RPM's milled. Chacking the true CR would be good idea anyway. Even if the CR would drop, the RPM's out of the box would be a performance increase ...

Hmm, you have a big block and want mpg, and you are worried about carbon deposits. I thought this was the performance section, not the joke section.
Carbon deposits, ha. why are you worried about that? carbon builds up due to not getting warm enough, or to rich at idle maybe, I have never seen carbon on something that gets used. The msd box will go out way before you have carbon buildup.

I'd sure install a good aluminum intake manifold also.
