.. Organic brake shoe material may be absorbing moisture... .. If the hoses show cracks when flexed, time to replace them... .. You may not have gotten all the air out of the system when bleeding... .. The front disc brakes aren't all that powerful... until warmed up... or with some types of pads... .. And, yes, master cylinder may be leaking internally...

Hey guys I have a problem with my brakes. For the first 5-10 minutes of running if you step on the brakes it doesnt do anything untill the pedal hits the floor, then the whole car comes to a very abrupt stop which is embarassing because it looks like i cant drive. After running for a while the brakes seem to return to normal what do you guys think it is?

We'll need more details too. Are you sucking it from the tank with a mechanical pump? Will it be a good sized electric back by/in the tank? Is the tank filter/sock newer?

Make sure you supply a switch for the + feed to the distributor so you have a way to 'kill' the engine. I agree with the guys above in making sure you know what you are doing and have help around anyways.

Master cylinder isnt expensive IIRC, have you checked the wheel cylinders while the drums were off to make sure they are working properly and are getting correct brake fluid pressure?

Whatever you do don't buy a rebuild motor. Pay the price and get a new one, I payed like $70.00 for the one I had to replace on the driver door and it's been working just find now for almost 4 years.

I believe what you are speaking of is commonly refered to as "dieseling"(sp) or "running-on" which is usually caused by a timing issue, carb problems, or a combination of both. Hopefully someone can confirm this or offer more info as to what to correct/adjust/etc.

It should never shut off no matter how cold it is outside, even with the really cold temps us Northern folks get I'm guessing that something isn't quite up to par(elec. choke not functioning correctly, maybe). Maybe someone will chime in with more help. I'm guessing this is a stock CCC(Q-Jet carb) setup?

im sure it has something to do with the fuel or spark. either old filter, maybe gas pump. maybe its time to rebuild your carb, or a nice cleaning... a nice tuneup might fix your problem.

Water in the block could freeze. Depending on how that happens it can expand and crack the block. If there is no water in the block then nothing will happen. HTH John
