get a guarantee of a refund if they are cracked(or buyer beware), vortec heads can crack between the valves or along the exhaust seat if abused before pulled. I can typically find a set of Vortec heads already modified and ready to install for about 500-600.00 so buying ones that still need work may not be a cost saving action unless you have an in with a machine shop or can DIY it...

big blocks are more thermally efficient due to the increased volume to surface area ratio of the piston and cylinders (larger bore). less thermal energy can escape through the block per unit volume. fuel is a different story....

8500+ rpm and over 800hp, those boom tubes work great on a NASCAR engine because they don't need low end torque

good article on the vortec heads http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/howto/97458/index.html any gen1 head will fit, even the ones from a 305. to make more power u need to consider bumping the compression ration. 70'ish 350s were smogger engines and had dished pistons with about 7.5- 8.0 compression with 76cc heads. most stock heads on 350s are the 882 castings and are prone to cracking, mine has those and runs well but like alot of advance...

Awesome! OK, time the car with the connector unplugged. Do I shut the engine off and then plug in the connector or do it while its running?

If it's just a temporary motor, I would swap over your stock intake and carb/distributor setup on to that 350, and be good to go. The only thing you may run in to issues with is whether or not that '93 block has provisions for a fuel pump pushrod so you can use the original fuel pump. Hope that helps!

a 383 aint much more then a 350. the cranks are the same price but the pistion aint much more. you dont need forged so a cast crank and hyperutetic pistion will be just fine.have the block decked and the bottomend balanced.its maby only 150 bucks more for a 383

Since it is gonna be mostly street driven I would stay away from a non-overdrive tranny, if you want to keep an automatic there are lots of options these days.. in my book a 400 is just too much heavy parts spinning around.. there are built 200r4's out there that will take a big block and use less horsepower as well., you are probably looking at 7-10 miles per gallon with the gear and loose ...

The truck (LM7 and LQ4) motors look like a lower cost option to the LSX motors, will the accessories work without having to notch the frame for the the A/C compressor? I've looked at pics of them but can't really tell how the A/C compressor is mounted. What are the prices on your conversion kit parts? Thanks, Larry.

If your mixture screws have no reaction to the running condition (in or out) I would say look at rebuilding or replacing the carb. How old is the carb?

6 degrees before top dead center for the stock engine but yours may not be... can't think of any other reason for an iron intake Just unhook the battery and take a picture of the engine without the air cleaner from the front, and both sides Then start pulling the intake like a regular swap, I like to use tape to tag and write where things plug into as well as the pics

All SS's came with a L69 305 with an aluminum intake. Try to stick a magnet on it just to be sure it's iron.
