For a moment thought it was Hillview management area, how'd they do I wonder as their website must have a virus or something. This island must be amazing, I wonder how it works does 1 guy own it and people pay to hunt it or are deer bought and brought in, do they swim in, did they shoot all mature bucks and what's left over, what is up ?

Gander but dont get that one I had the tubes fall out in the dark last year and was scrounging for the powder in the dark. Get the green power belt one that will go on your sling and just stick in in your pocket or on a zipper pull with a clip. Oh yeah disregaurd with snow scraper in the first pick the wife wouldn't give me her brush to straighten the fur so I had to use the snow brush didn't get it out of the pick I see now

Nice little video there. I love hearing those old timer stories. Can't wait to hear the fines & restitution for those folks. I'm sure it's been going on for years.

Amazing that a small area can hold that many deer. From the looks of the actual meat poles, looks like this isn't their first go round with that many hanging...

Most of the hunters I see kind of give me a funny look when they see my ASAT or predator camo. They are usually covered up in Realtree or Mossy Oak. Like others have said most camo is to fool the hunter out of some $$$. Really you don't need camo if you be careful of your movement, but a little something to break up your outline when bowhunting does help.

yeah, i dont think you're going to win this one. but i think you already have! you get to go out in the woods, and harvest your bounty by outsmarting the elusive whitetail. while your buddies or whatever go to the supermarket and squeeze heads of lettuce!

I shot a "big doe" in December years ago that turned out to be a buck that had already lost his antlers. A friend shot another in December who's antlers came off while he was dragging it out of the woods, bummer.

Anytime between now and spring when the new growth pushes them off. There are so many different factors that dictate when a buck drops its antlers, you can't put a date on it. Just keep on him and look when ever you have time.

It's nice to blend in and break up your outline a bit, but overall, camo is overhyped. If you're well camo'd up you may get away with a little more movements, because you're bleded into the background, but as long as you sit still, I think you could wear whatever you want. Deer key in on movements more then anything!

Here are a couple of examples from this spring. My guide took lots of pictures and we moved around to get the best angle. That being said 90+ temps, evening kills, and late night retrivals make most bear pictures a challenge. My advice is to take as many pictures as you have time for (a digital camera really helps).

I kinda do. I set up ground blinds, with my plastic patio chairs inside. I dig the back legs in enough so it's in a slight reclining position. It's very comfortable. Almost too comfortable as it is easy to fall asleep. But I can sit in any of my blinds for hours. My son will sit open to close, and there's no way thats gonna happen in a tree stand. I even set him up with a blanket or ...

Feed deer, corn and cracked corn for the last 15 years. Most of the does have healthy twins or triplets and feeding helps this years fawns make it through the winter. Both last year and this hurt deer after the hunting season come to feeder. There are lots of deer in my 601 area so the one-buck (this year one with a healed broken hind leg) I take yearly for meat does not hurt the population. The ...
