I don't think I said anything of that sort, and if I said anything remotely of that nature either you're taking it out of context or I posted while thinking about something else entirely. (There were a number of library issues that were addressed, and the most important was that the Reset Media Library tool was at many times non-functional. Those issues were to my knowledge addressed.) The "library is not...

Hello! What, where, and how exactly did you try changing permissions? If you open the Properties sheet for the folder in question (e.g. C:\Users\Public\Videos), and click the Advanced button (in the Security tab), you'll find (about 2 or 3 layers in) the ability to deny the MCX x users (the Extender(s) account(s) Delete permissions. Instructions w/ screenshots can be posted if needed (I'll need to generate the screenshots.) -Chris

Windows 7 and iPhone and Dell

That or Microsoft could update Zune to properly compete with iPhone and make using apple hardware unecessary.. all with a straight face I swear. How are you connecting them anyway? I'm looking to get an iPhone soon too but the lack of an apple operating system hardware platform and apparent problems with win7 compatibility is giving me pause. Are you using wifi or blutooth?

Yes! My dell is Win7 compatible. I got this info from dell tech suport even before I did anything else. In fact the windows 7 DID run and ran well. Just the WMP 12 was the issue. Nothing else was giving me problems.

I started this thread, and thus my posts ARE "in their own thread." Zach, please don't waste your time and ours by telling us how to post. I suggest that you spend your time here distilling any good ideas, enhancement requests, and bug fixes and reporting them to MS people who may be able to address them. Thank you.

It is not a matter of the OS supporting this. The TV Tuner Card must support it. There are several available that does. I believe Terratec has a Card that supports DVB-T, DVB-S and DVB-C all in the same Card.

Check that W7MP can see your library storage location by ripping a cd and checking that it builds a database correctly. Is the music collection on the machine you are trying to access it from or on a networked drive?

I'm not sure about NVidia, but - ATI is still in BETA for Win7 drivers, and until they release a complete driver - this may remain an issue.

By the way, I'm using WMP 12 build 12.0.7600.16415. At the least, I would hope that MS would enable easy removal of WMP 12 and install of WMP 11 in Win7, at least until WMP 12 is made more reliable with large music libraries, or until a WMP 11 library importer is developed. By easy removal I mean no registry edits. Constant monitoring of all music folders is not feasible with large ...

Hi. Could you post the full model#, as listed on the build label on the bottom of your notebook? "DV2000" is a family , with a lot of variety in it. Example: mine's an HP dv6105us (a member of the dv6000 family.) We can (try to) find you drivers, and help with installing them; but, we need to know exactly what to look for. ;) -Chris

Hi The Stodd, I consider the issue can be caused by audio driver. Since the audio driver is not directly provided by Microsoft, you may need to contact with the audio card manufacturer for the latest audio driver to support surround sound on Windows 7. Thank you for your understanding.

There are no 'supported' procedures for doing that. A number of people have reported success at getting WMP11 to work in Windows 7, however: http://tinyurl.com/y8zh67r Although I personally dislike WMP12 severely, and have to wonder if the design/interface/feature changes were dreamt up by a drunken, rabid monkey with a learning disorder, I'd definitely NOT try any of the procedures ...

#2 and #3 sound like their own bugs/issues that deserve their own threads. #3 in particular should likely be a driver issue, so you'd definitely want to include system and dxdiag info. #4: What's the crash data? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket can help you look that up if you don't know how. Note that that does lead to your #7, as misregistration of third party codecs has indeed ...

Guaranteed it has nothing to do with services.
What format is the song, is it DRM protected, how fast does your hard drive read (it is just buffering), or is the file on a network share, does it do this with video as well?
How fast is your computer, what type and speed of ram does it have?
